Jason Rezaian, US journalist charged with espionage, sentenced by Iranian court

A verdict has been reached in the case of an American journalist detained in Iran for over a year on espionage charges.

A semi-official Iranian news agency announced on Sunday that a sentence had been handed down for Jason Rezaian, the Washington Post’s bureau chief in Tehran, but offered no details of what the verdict or sentence were.

The news agency quoted a spokesman for the Iranian judiciary, who said he had no further information on the verdict but that Rezaian, 39, had 20 days to appeal his sentence.

US journalist. Right. And an Iranian citizen. Did they leave that part out?

    F@ck dual citizenship.

  • He was and is a regime apologist. According to his own brother who appeared on Fox News, Jason didn’t do anything wrong as he was just in Iran to report on hamburgers, food and such. So I’d say rot in jail. He was a hamburger reporter. He didn’t risk his life exposing the repression or corruption of the Iranian regime. He was there to apologize for the Mullahs and condemn American policies. I hope he stays in Iran for the rest of his useless life.

I kind of hope it’s a death sentence, if only to not hear Obama or WaPo utter a peep.

Yes. The WashPo is an apologist for Obama and his appeasement polices towards Iran. So is the Washington “journalist”, dual citizen Jason Rezaian. So now he gets to rot in jail. Funny how the left establishment seems to eat its own, eh?
