Hillary Clinton vows to take on America’s gun lobby

Hillary Clinton vowed to tackle gun violence in America on Monday, unveiling an ambitious new set of controls on the selling of firearms, just days after another mass shooting that saw students murdered in their classrooms in Oregon.

The Democratic presidential frontrunner said she would enforce universal background checks and close the loophole of sales on the internet and at gun shows that provide those with a criminal record with a route to buying weapons.

If pro-gun lobbies and politicians tried to block these new measures, Mrs Clinton said that as president she would take executive action to force them through Congress.
