A Convert to Islam Wants Everyone to Know Why She Did It

My image of Islam was shattered when I went to Malaysia. I found myself becoming curious about the pretty South-East Asian Muslim girls with their colourful hijabs and clothes. I made many Muslim friends who went to university and had jobs. Some wore veils and others didn’t. They all seemed quite content and loved their religion and Islam quickly became a religion I wanted to learn more about.

My eyes and mind were opened, when, as a journalism student, I did an article about Muslim women’s rights. That was the beginning of everything. My mind was suddenly bursting with knowledge about Islam and the fact that women had many rights in Islam! Muslim women were legally given rights (including divorce, land rights, monetary rights, the right to choose who to marry, etc) in the Qur’an and Hadiths hundreds of years before Western women won the same rights.

The first time I stepped into a mosque in Malaysia, I felt an immediate sense of calm and peace. The strong yet humble cry of the call to prayer invoked feelings in me I never felt before. When I first bowed my head toward the Ka’ba, I felt home in my heart. I didn’t convert to Islam in Malaysia – I did that over a year later – but it introduced me in a beautiful way to Islam and to the Oneness of God.

One can only wonder what moral, social, cultural and personal qualities are lacking that one could ever embrace Islamism.

  • She is proud to be an idiot.

Her fascination will end once she reads the Koran or has some Muslim male set her straight.

    • My interest was really piqued when she claimed Christianity and Islam are similar.

If someone can give me the names of the Lutherans who flew into the sides of the Trade Centre, that would be great.

Half the population is below average –it’s just a fact of humanity. I remember every time I take the bus somewhere.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

It’s where that average point is defined and what populations are sampled to arrive at that average that concerns me.

      • DavidinNorthBurnaby

As in what portion of the population sampled are the products of cousin marriages (i.e. Muslims).

And what is the spread of the distribution? With all the enrichment we’ve been getting we could, in fact (though no one would ever study this as it would be “racist”) be essentially looking at 2 bell curves, representing 2 essentially distinct populations which overlap somewhat – in other words, one group or population that is significantly more intelligent than the other.

And if she had gone to Thailand instead of Malaysia, would she have become a Buddhist?

    • Alain

Right and she would not have risked losing her head….

  • Hard Little Machine

    I don’t care.

Of course if she was a female Muslim and visited a Christian country and liked Christianity so much she decided to convert when she got back home…….well I wouldn’t want to be in her hijab when her brothers found out.

What a piece of flagrant propaganda.

The Muslims are conquering the brains of people , in the future I will see a mosque full of Euros and North Americans .

    • mobuyus

The only way you ‘ll see that is, if you are in the mosque too.

      • Maurixio Garciasanchez

Nope I don’t have to be there , I could see that in the news , by the tv,newspapers, etc I don’t need to be there.

    • Alain

No, there were no brains to conquer here.

      • Maurixio Garciasanchez

You mean all the brains here are dead already 0)

    • DavidinNorthBurnaby

Creeps me out to see these obvious “converts” wearing their head rags. There’s a couple of them working checkstands sometimes at the local Wally World. I avoid those lines.

      • Maurixio Garciasanchez

They are working at Tim Hortons serving coffee too .

  • moraywatson

Wow! It’s like she was describing how she joined a cult, or something. /facetiousness off

  • Brett_McS

    And in Scientology news…

It’s fat white girl syndrome. She spins this whole yarn about Islam when it’s really just about getting a good looking Arab with a giant schlong.

Actually this reminds me of the case – and this goes way back – when a man in either Quebec or Ontario went to court to try to prevent his then girlfriend from having an abortion. I think he was arguing he had equal rights as a parent. Anyway, the girlfriend had huge support from the pro-choice crowd, won the case, and had her abortion. Later she complained that all those who were so friendly and on her side when she wanted an abortion had moved on after she had same and really needed friends.

That said boyfriend ended up in Alberta accused (and – I think – convicted) of abusing another woman down the line is probably a co-incidence. Fact remains, the pro-choice crown will only hang around and be your friends when they see positive publicity. Suspect same will happen should this woman become disenchanted with Islam. Only thing is, she could end up dead.

    Clitorectomy yet, sweetie?
