Chinese cadets rush to defend ‘strange’ punishment

A group of Chinese students have been forced to carry out their compulsory military training wrapped in thick bed covers, as punishment for not tidying their rooms. After lying under the blazing sun in a blanket, students at southern China’s Changsha University then did exercises with buckets on their head. While social media users and media outlets slammed the punishment for its absurdity, the victims themselves have rushed to defend it.

If a certain political party wins the election in Canada – the picture of people wearing bedspreads and buckets could be taken at a Canadian citizenship ceremony.

“While social media users and media outlets slammed the punishment for its absurdity, ”

Maybe social media users and media should STFU and mind their own business.

Rather easy punishment, when I was undergoing basic training several screw ups when practising drilled was punished by 4 laps around the parade square carrying a 9 lb rifle. (approximately 2.5 km) Screw up again and the entire unit jogged with you. It wasn’t unusual for the entire having to run the parade square at least once. During our 16 wks of basic we had to jog everywhere during working hours, by graduation every single one of us was capable of doing a 10K run.
