EU Confirms Only One in Five “Syrian Migrants” Actually From Syria

The number of refugees arriving in Europe has soared by 85 per cent but only one in five are from Syria, according to official figures released today.

Between April and June, 213,000 asylum seekers arrived on the continent – up dramatically on last year when just 115,000 made it to the EU.

However, just 44,000 of the total number of asylum seekers came from war-ravaged Syria, the Brussels statistics body Eurostat said today.
