Court Allows Zunera Ishaq to Cover Face During the Citizenship Ceremony

We need to elect our judges:

A Federal Court of Appeal panel has dismissed a government appeal over a ban on face coverings at citizenship ceremonies.

The three justices ruled from the bench, saying they wanted to proceed quickly so that Zunera Ishaq, the woman who initially challenged the ban, can obtain her citizenship in time to vote in the Oct. 19 federal election.

Ishaq, a 29-year-old woman with devout Muslim beliefs who came to Ontario from Pakistan in 2008, refused to take part in a citizenship ceremony because she would have to show her face.

The Harper government’s rule banning face coverings at such ceremonies was earlier found unlawful by the Federal Court.

Justice Department lawyer Peter Southey argued unsuccessfully that the lower court justice made errors in his original decision to overturn the ban.

Appeal Justice Mary Gleason said the court said there was no reason to interfere with earlier ruling.

Oh, how wonderful that the judges expedited matters so that she can vote in our elections!

  • moraywatson

This is how Britain got into its islamic mess. Activist judges overruling the will of parliament, extending fabricated rights to ever aggrieved totalitarians.

If muslimas have the right to cover their faces at citizenship ceremonies, then everyone else has the right to attend a ceremony where nobody covers their face. Check the box ahead of time.

They had bloody well invoke the not withstanding clause. Enough is enough of this crap.

    • dance…dancetotheradio

This invocation of the nothwithstanding clause is in my opinion illegal since it was designed as a legislative override to bad court decisions, wasn’t it?

      • Alain

Yes, it was designed to override bad court decisions, which does not make it “illegal’. To date only Quebec has used it and used it several times. Why the lack of courage by other provinces and especially the federal government? This is clearly a case where it is imperative to use it. Actually it should be used every time any of these judicial activists attempt to legislate in lieu of Parliament. Citizenship requirements must not be determined by unelected judicial activists.

  • Horrid decision.

  • WalterBannon

    deport her

and make these treasonous judges disappear in the middle of the night

    • Alain

I don’t go as far as making them disappear in the middle of the night, but they need to be publicly ridiculed and shamed. Picketing their homes would be also worthwhile.

      • G

Around the employee’s entrance of the court house. When you see the scumbag judge’s limo, raise hell.

(Until then don’t say anything because of course, the bootlicker gestapo cops will suspect something and ask you why all these people are just standing around).

“No reason officer. Can’t a few people just stand around & enjoy the day?”

  • Maurixio Garciasanchez

They might ask the judges in the future to make their ceremonies inside the mosques .

While wearing work boots with pig shit on them.

It’s good to know our justices see it as their solemn duty to enforce shariah law.

Of course under shariah law the judgements of infidels are utterly worthless, so the good justices should get busy converting to Islam.

  • disqusW6sf

Wouldn’t you know Mary Gleason rec’d her first degree from University of Zero.

    • Alain

      A female judge at that.

      • disqusW6sf

Yes. BILLY HW is more right than wrong . What a mess.

  • Exile1981

Time to start removing judges from office. I know some people think they should be elected but that will just mean that judges can pander to the radical left more to get elected.

  • bargogx1

There was never any doubt in my mind as to how this would turn out.

    • G

How many legal decisions have there been in the last decade or so that have NOT been completely predictable?

You know exactly how these assholes are going to rule as soon as you hear a one sentence description of what the case is about. They’ve got every decision made before a word of evidence has been produced.

The only questions in any case are what bits of evidence will the judges carefully cherry pick to produce an excuse (however lame) for their decision.

Praise Allah! Canada is on the road to sharia law. Mohammad, shit be upon him, is on the march.

  • terrence

As I have stated before: Canada does NOT have a “justice” system, nor a “legal” system, we a LAWYER SYSTEM (ALL judges were/are lawyers). And these lawyers did not respect the peasants, peons and serfs.

“Equality” nowadays is directly proportional to the colour of your skin. If you’re a white male forget it.

    Scum sucking traitorous weasels.

  • Mojo1961

Get the f#ck out of Canada! And I mean the judges too. Traitors, the lot of them.

  • Everyone Else

    1. I never heard of any other judgement that was speeded up so someone could vote.

    2. Why does Canada have to adapt to Muslims, why can’t Muslims adapt like every other immigrant.

  • DVult

Don’t allow this garbage into Canada in the first place and we won’t have this problem.

In our western society a person covering his/her face has always been considered a criminal.
Perhaps if every good Canadian citizen would do her/his duty and call 911 whenever such a criminal type is seen the courts might rethink this foolish ruling.

This ruling is surely discrimination in its most blatant form. It says that Muslims must be treated differently and more favourably from the rest of Canadians. All non Muslim Canadians are now the victims of religious discrimination by our courts.

That the court is traitorously succumbing to sharia law would it seems to me to be sufficient grounds for it to be dissolved.
