Parliament not diverse enough, says Maclean’s — where only two writers aren’t white

Maclean’s magazine says that Parliament’s big problem is… that it’s too white.

The Toronto Star too never shuts up about giving people of colour jobs based upon their identity and not their merit.

Contrast that with the Star’s lily-fucking-white editorial board……

      Now Olivia Chow really said:
Me’ wif editoriow bore. Tokk abou’ neighbourhood lef’ behingh, my platfor’ rayciss in dis elx.

Do any of these white folk not speak with a Scottish accent still after all these years.

  • Shebel

Pretty soon they will ban ‘White Christmas’.
    It is very sad.

  • G

What about the parliamentary press gallery? Let’s have a look a the lack of color there.
MacLean’s calls itself a “news” magazine. It’s not.

It’s an editorial magazine. They just cherry pick their facts, who they will quote, and what stories they will run in order to push public opinion in a given direction.

There’s no reason to give them any respect.

I’ve also heard that MacLeans gets a million dollar subsidy from the government.
Any outlet that gives Aaron Wherry a voice is not worth my time.
How does a mincy little fop like him get taken seriously anyway?

      • G

The same way all the mincy little fops like him get taken seriously.
Think of all the useless, oxygen wasting weasels in the national and regional press. These are pieces of crap who are unable or too narcissistic to do REAL jobs so they become journalists.

Perhaps the scribes at that rag mean there are too many white marxists being elected. Don’t recall them ever being especially thrilled when ethnic or racial minority conservatives got elected from across Canada.

  • Tom Forsythe

Parliament is always exactly as diverse as the voters want.

    • Alain

That is the problem for them. They want affirmative action appointments in lieu of elections.

  • jayme

Are they saying if you don’t vote for a non white your racist.

  • Billy Bob Thornton

I agree parliament is not diverse in the sense that there should be more parties.

Levant is a Conservative party supporter and thus his opinions are just opinion and should never be taken seriously.

The Conservative party took money away from building legitimate movements to challenge the mainstream class, and democracy cannot grow when the mainstream wants a controlled system.

Macleans has it only partially right, because diversity doesn’t matter. What matters is true independence and returning democracy to the people.

This means reducing the power of the PMO, having independent elections, having direct democracy, and finally, having MP independence. The media also has to inform the people on all the parties, their platforms, and the media has to allow for true debate and get away from the major party mentality. Oligarchy is the system we have and to me diversity is secondary to a fair and open and equal democracy.

Paul Hellyer was a fop, a poseur, and an alien infestation.

      • Billy Bob Thornton

I don’t think Hellyer is important since I joined just this year. I have quite a few memberships federally, so I am quite open-minded to many groups that hopefully will grow and turn Canada into a multi-party democracy. There is even a party that was created this year actually calling for real recall and referenda. That is something that the Reform party never stood by. Therefore, I hold a few memberships, so I am not firmly with one party.

        • Minicapt

Indecisiveness as a virtue, got it. Next the Green Party?

          • Billy Bob Thornton

I am a member only of the Progressive Canadian party, the United Party and the Canadian Action party. I am only interested in nationalism not attempts to bring in more taxes or less taxes. I want current taxation and attempts to build a system that works everyone around that. The debates have to start there. Frankly, global warming/climate change is a way for globalism just as much as interventionist wars, because they involve all nations participating and wasting more money. We need national sovereignty and independence in how nations operate. That is the movement I hope will grow in Canada. I do not mind under what medium or under what party. I just hope a nationalist movement will grow! That is my intention.

    • Clink9

Your opinions are just opinion and should never be taken seriously.

  • Frances

How about looking for competence, for adherence to basic Canadian values? Or are those particular qualities considered irrelevant and unnecessary these days?

  • Chris

Wait, this isn’t satire? Macleans still exists? Headline should read ” LEFTIST DINOSAUR STILL WALK THE EARTH”

  • Cheryl

We need Sir John A Macdonald back as our Prime Minister and maybe we wouldn’t be in the state we are in now. If only there was another Canadian like him.
