TORONTO – Opposition to the province’s new sex-ed curriculum left one Toronto school half empty on the first day of school.
Half of Thorncliffe Park Public School’s 700 students were absent Tuesday, said Ryan Bird, a spokesman for the Toronto District Public School Board.
Parents at the school – which has a large immigrant population – have been protesting the new curriculum and say they will keep their kids out of class as long as the curriculum is in place.
Thorncliffe Park is almost exclusively Muslim, not immigrant but settler.
I have to admit I am enjoying this.
