Seven dead in Shoreham Airshow disaster: Jet crashes into cars on A27 and explodes after skimming the trees during loop-the-loop

Seven people have been confirmed dead after a fighter jet smashed into traffic on a busy dual carriageway and burst into flames after failing to pull up from a loop-the-loop stunt during an airshow display.

Thousands of spectators watched in horror as the 1950s Hawker Hunter crashed into several cars on the A27 next to Shoreham Airshow in West Sussex this afternoon.

The pilot, named locally as former RAF Harrier jump-jet flier Andy Hill, is believed to have been pulled from the burning wreckage and is now fighting for his life in hospital.

Weird coincidence that your evening photos last night was of plane wrecks…?

These aged flying junk piles should be severely restricted as to what antics their pilots are allowed to get up to at air shows. They should be limited to simple fly pasts. Even the brand new intensely maintained stuff falls out of the sky on occasion at air shows so that should be a clue.
When my father was in intensive care the patient next to him was a pilot who was in a private plane crash and was badly injured and extensively burned. He didn’t make it either.
    Fate is the hunter.

After seeing that clip it’s hard to believe the pilot is still alive. Seems there’s been more air show disasters this year than usual.

Obviously he began that loop at too low of an altitude.
Usually that kind of an accident (a loop or roll with insufficient altitude for such a loop) is an instrument (altitude) calibration error.
We will know, but that’s my guess from seeing that video.

Oh a low altitude loop. There ya go.

That’s as bad as bungee jumping without a bungee.

All that empty field around and he hits the road. Their number was up.
