‘We didn’t have advanced warning’: White House official admits being taken by surprise by ISIS execution video of American journalist James Foley

When a graphic video showing the execution of American journalist James Foley at the hands of a masked ISIS militant was posted online in August, the White House had no idea it was coming.

Foley, 40, was beheaded by the terrorist organization after being tortured and starved during his two years in captivity following his 2012 capture by militants while reporting from Taftanaz in Syria.

A top White House counter-terrorism official told the audience at the Aspen Security Forum that a member of her staff told her ‘the video had appeared’ and ‘we didn’t have advanced warning of it’.

What a splendid way to boost confidence in your “intelligence” gathering.
It is depressing to think National security is in the hands of a bunch of such incompetent Hamsters

See it’s not the jihadis fault. It’s these videos that magically appear.

Is anyone surprised that the barbarians don’t pre-announce their atrocities?

    • They could have sent invitations. Just to be polite.

Even if they had advanced warning, so what?

What would have been done/ done differently?

    “We don’t actually care, either”

It’s hard to get advanced warning when your head is buried in the sand.

The White House does’nt have advanced warning on anything.

Obama only ever hears about anything once it hits the news.

  • Let’s assume that is true (and it might be given the sloppy administration). Does that still excuse Obama’s continuing to play golf like a sociopath?

Obama Administration Doesn’t Have A Clue.

    That’s not news.

Ummm, he shouldn’t have been there in the first place.
