UN concerned about Canada’s new anti-terror law

TORONTO — A United Nations human rights body raised concerns Thursday about Canada’s new anti-terror legislation, saying it could run afoul of international human rights standards.

The Anti-Terrorism Act, passed by Parliament in June, makes it easier for intelligence officers, border guards and law enforcement officials to monitor and arrest potential terror suspects in Canada. The law could be used to thwart travel plans, cancel bank transactions and covertly interfere with radical websites. Critics say it will make it easier for security officials to place Canadians under surveillance.

Caught a one-sided CBC News report on this yesterday (Thursday July 23). Seems the UN “Human Rights” commission and CBC News support international terrorists travelling to and from Canada.

They were flipping out on CBC “The National” last night about it… as though the world is coming to an end. Canada is now an “Evil Country” in the eyes of the UN.
What makes me laugh is that the UN continues to ignore all the chaos in the Middle East and spends its time scrutinizing Canada. I doubt that any one from any of the traditional Sh*t holes where most of the refugees that end up here originates is going to change their mind and head elsewhere based on this report.
In the world of the Toronto Star (and Crescent) and CBC the UN criticism is all Harper’s fault….”vote for Justin and the UN will love us again.”

My reaction is pretty well the opposite of the CBCs. I had concerns about this legislation from a civil liberties perspective but if the UN, that bastion of freedom and liberty doesn’t care for it, than to me that counts as a point in favor of the law. I now have fewer concerns, thanks to the UN, than I previously had.

Who gives a shite what the UN thinks about anything (other than the CBC, of course)?

      • WalterBannon

The UN is evil, as are all the anti-Semite Marxist employees of the CBC

  • Brett_McS

    Tsk, tsk, Canada. Tsk, Tsk!

Maybe the UN should be more worried about its own staff. Apparently one of their top people in charge of the global warming commission has been charged with sexual misconduct. I guess global warming is the cause, or maybe the Jews. And maybe the UN should do something about its peacekeepers raping and pillaging African countries.

Cut the CBC some slack, the executives over there have been under a lot of stress lately, what with the needing to hide money and move assets around so they don’t show up in the records during their coming messy divorces… I mean that nasty hacker who downloaded the client list for Ashley Maddison has really but the execs into a tight spot.

When the UN has curbed islam’s propensities for FGM, throwing acid on girls, throwing homosexuals off rooftops. stoning, amputation etc etc etc ad islamonausea, perhaps then they can tackle the scourge that is Canada.

  • Ottawa Eyes

The UN wouldn’t like it if we won’t take our “fair share” of terrorists.

I am sure the Middle Eastern countries are behind this.

It is time to stop giving any money to the United Nations or any of its agencies.

    • Maurixio Garcia Sanchez

One more thing you forgot to mention, just tell your sacred leader to stop bombing terrorists in one hand and allowing them by the 1000s to come over here.

      • ellake

You got it wrong, we are not in the Middle East nor in South America and our leaders are not sacred.

  • Justin St.Denis

Oh dear! The UN is frowning at Canada. Should we all clutch our pearls and stammer an apology? Or, as usual, should we just give the UN the fuck-off shrug? I’m all for the fuck-off shrug……

    • WalterBannon

we should cancel our membership and funding of the UN

      • mobuyus

That can be done as per my above post.

      • Cheryl

I agree totally. Cancel immediately. The guy that is running it is Korean let him take all the refugees to his country.

  • Millie_Woods

Tracking suspected terrorists is a violation of their human rights, but it’s okay to persecute Levant for calling the human rights commission ‘crazy’. That’s just crazy.

    • Maggat

I like and agree with your use of the word ‘persecute’.

      • Millie_Woods

They’re out to get him for criticizing them. I thought that kind of thing only happened in Turkey and Burma. Never thought I’d see the day in Canada.

  • DVult

Just stop paying dues. Send the money to me instead.

  • Surele Surele

It’s time for the UN to follow the League of Nations. High time!

Carpet bomb that shithole of parasites on turtle island, and then bulldoze the whole stinking mess and be done with these assholes once and for all. All diplomacy can then be carried out by High Altitude Bombers and ICBMs. This would shut the lily-liveried leftists up especially when they see the respect such a move would engender in the islamic world. Peace only through superior firepower as always has been and as always will be.

  • dukestreet

We should have got out of the UN a long time ago. all civilized western countries should get out and defund. There would be no one left to pay for their nonsense. Problem of the UN solved. it rarely served a useful purpose and certainly doesn’t serve any purpose now.
