Ottawa tops on infidelity website

Canada’s prim capital is suddenly focused more on the state of people’s affairs than the affairs of the state.

One in five Ottawa residents allegedly subscribed to adulterers’ website Ashley Madison, making one of the world’s coldest capitals among the hottest for extra-marital hookups – and the most vulnerable to a breach of privacy after hackers targeted the site.

Oh my.

Ottawa’s population is 900,000 plus Gatineau 300,000 that does not include mps/senators who don’t fall under the offical population figure so when they use the 883.000 something is not adding up.

    • Hmm interesting point.

Yeah, 20% sounds b.s. to me too.

I lived in Ottawa for six years, so I can tell you first-hand that it is also, THE DULLEST city in the world. Most people who live there after they turn 30, barely have a pulse. It is not even remotely surprising to me, that an army of bored civil servants are checking to make sure they are still alive, via AM. Ottawa is a loathsome place.

I have to say that my experience was totally different. In the early 60s I would agree with your description, because even the petrol stations were closed on Sundays, and everyone knew you had to go to Hull for just about anything on Sundays. However when I returned in the early 70s, it was totally different where just about anything went. By then the Personal ads were as spicy as in any other big city. It was just a personal thing of mine to check the Personal ads to get an idea of the “culture” of the city where I was posted. By the mid to late 70s I doubt a person would not have been able to find anything that was common in any big city, and I am referring to “entertainment”. To be honest I found such a total transformation in such a short period of time hard to believe. By then I think Toronto is another prime example of a complete transformation and not necessarily for the better. Let’s face it people are people when it comes to these things, and there have been no new sins (my word) invented since the beginning of time.

Didn’t Trudeau suspend two of his MPs on allegations by NDP MPs of inappropriate sexual behaviour?

        • mauser 98

yes , will bet there is dirt every where.
i would assume article refers to population in general.
          bureaucrats mostly.

  • Tokenn

The only think I find at all shocking about this is that there are still people who think _anything_ on the Internet is private…

  • mauser 98

screw the taxpayers all day,,,each other all night

Would be interesting to have a quick, brutal forensic check of all computers, politicians’ and civil servants’ alike.

  • andycanuck

Just a reminder: Journalists work in Ottawa too not just politicians and bureaucrats.

  • Reader

Why do politicians’ and their staffs’ spouses smile so rarely?

Because the public gets screwed first and much more often.

I heard that some guy that goes by the name JT has a profile.
Under ‘perfect date’, he wrote down; ‘ Dec.25th, because it is my birthday and Christmas. ‘

But seriously folks, there is no way that 1 of 5 is on that site.

Take the children out of the population number, singles, those who don’t need a website to get laid, and those who would never consider joining a trashy dating website, and you have a lot less than 170,000 potential users.
