The court heard how Khan, described as ‘erratic, manipulative and controlling’, arrived in the UK in April 2011 on a study visa.
He married Milena in a Muslim ceremony in October 2012 before their civil wedding in December that year.
He had clearance to stay in the country until February 2013 but hoped he would obtain the right to remain because of his European wife.
However, concerns about the marriage being a ‘sham’ led to his application being repeatedly refused. He appealed the decision and was asked to provide further documentation in July last year.
Milena, who worked as a masseuse in a sauna in Chalk Farm, refused to help him and moved out of their home in Forest Gate, the court heard.
