They “were” joking, and I’m not too sure about that. Yikes!
Damn near thing.
What are the chances, they always say.
I always say if there’s a chance it ain’t worth it.
who was operating that crane ?? i bet i know ..
That was not what I was expecting from the thumbnail and the post title.
It’s amazing that no one was hurt.
I expected the great ‘loose bolt’ joke that some ‘Catapult/SlingShot’ operators play on people….
And you spend the next minute or so bouncing around in the air *thinking* that some of part of the ride is about to become unattached.
He’s lucky the passengers are laying back the way they are
pulling a prank like that I can easily see one of them grabbing him by the arm or hair.
That dude would be taking a walk if I was in charge of that ride.
Goofing off like that leads to accidents. Usually the ride operator.
I had a guy on the Scrambler at Center Island that would goof off
with customers, all haha until someone panicked and grabbed him
as the ride was reaching full speed, dude broke a leg, 2 ribs and his arm being bounced around by the ride.
Another guy, giving people high fives as the cars came around.
fingers got locked briefly and he got wacked real good.
Having worked at amusement parks many many times, there is a ton of things that happened that nobody on the ride was aware of, bolts breaking, safety harnesses failing … brakes failing…. stress fractures on key components that get painted over
without the inspectors being informed…. the list is endless.
When things happen you just try to keep it quiet so as not to cause a panic
Then of course rides being operated by clueless 16 year olds with the attention span of a 2 year old.. Used to have big fights at Centre Island over their hiring complete idiots and putting untrained people from the food booths on ride operation when they were short staff.
You won’t catch me on most rides.
They still had two spare bungie cords …
