US training just 60 Syrian fighters to combat Islamic State despite target of 5,400

The United States said on Tuesday it was falling far behind plans to build a Syrian opposition force to battle Islamic State (Isil), disclosing that just 60 fighters were in training after US vetting thinned the number of recruits.

The US military launched its program in May to train up to 5,400 fighters a year in what was seen as a test of President Barack Obama’s strategy of getting local partners to combat extremists and keep U.S. troops off the front lines.

The training program has been challenged from the start, with many candidates being declared ineligible and some even dropping out. Obama’s requirement that they target militants from Isil has sidelined huge segments of the Syrian opposition focused instead on battling Syrian government forces.

Likely that was because only 60 Syrians could survive the vetting process.

    • That many?

If Emperor Barry wants to ruin Assad’s day all he has to do is declare he is the Syrian regime’s new steadfast ever faithful ally and he’ll be sending along his best, a brilliant guy named John something to sign the deal. If Barry is willing to play footsie with the iranian ayahtoldjahs what’s the quibble about playing nice with Assad, a leader of one of their biggest client states?

    • I suspect that’s the sticking point in the current deal…

The amateur hour motley crew of unreconstructed Stalinists like Valerie Jarret and the neo-Trotskyists who somehow manage and control Obongo are so utterly inept that despite trillions in military and intelligence budgets across 17 agencies they cannot and/or will not secure the border with Mexico; the Joint Chiefs of Staff should do a coup at once in order to restore their honor and secure the damn border once and for all! “The United States Intelligence Community(I.C.) is a federation of 17 separate United States government agencies that work separately and together to conduct intelligence activities considered necessary for the conduct of foreign relations and national security of the United States. Member organizations of the I.C. include intelligence agencies, military intelligence, and civilian intelligence and analysis offices within federal executive departments. The I.C. is headed by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), who reports to the President of the United States.”

The United States Intelligence Community is an oxymoron.

Here is another poignant example of the sheer bone-headedness of the upper echelons of the so-called “intelligence community”; it is truly beyond parody!

About as much military value as the Britisches Freikorps (British Free Corps) unit of the Waffen-SS

Thomas Freeman (alias Buck Rogers)) of No.7 Commando was cleared of guilt – after informing his RSM he used the BFC as a way to escape to Russian lines.

Edwin Barnard Martin (alias Edward Bartlett) of the Essex Scottish Regiment was sentenced to 25 years for his involvement with BFC.

So, let’s say they started with 5400 warm bodies, and after vetting, de-selection and natural attrition, trained 60.

That is a success rate of just over 1%. (0.0111+)

    Abysmal by any standards.

Don’t worry, though..these guys are just as capable as the next Muzzie in taking the supplied weaponry and running!

If they say 60 it means they did not get a dozen !
