Genius Cats ‘control mice’ with chemicals in their urine

Cat v mouse: it is probably the most famous predator-prey pairing, enshrined in idioms and a well-known cartoon.

And cats, it turns out, even have chemical warfare in their anti-mouse arsenal – contained in their urine.

Researchers found that when very young mice were exposed to a chemical in cat urine, they were less likely to avoid the scent of cats later in life.

Pip fishes for Ham! Thank little Zilla for the artwork!

Pip on Vacation

  • Note the interplay of colour. See how the vibrant sun causes Pip to dream of ham.

    • A masterwork;)

      • It’s like the Sistine Chapel but with cats and ham.

        • Justin St.Denis

Please! It makes the Sistine Chapel look like a cameo miniature! This is capital “A” Art. 😉

  • Waffle

Right. So don’t pee on my leg and tell me that it’s raining.

I don’t mean you, little Zilla. You are getting better and better. Keep up the excellent work. Love your stuff. I just know you are going to be famous some day.

  • Clink9

Cats will steal your breath while you sleep.

  • Using ham to catch more ham! Brilliant stuff.

  • DVult

I wonder how the cats get the mice to stand still while they are peeing on them?

    • Kaye

Hypnosis – ever try to stare down a cat? Losing game, they’ll give you the sidelong, and pretend they’re falling asleep, but they don’t stop staring.

      • DVult

I stared down my dog one day. He finally keeled over and passed out for a bit. Never would look me right in the eye for more than a fraction of a second after that.

  • Petey

Good luck with the hamming, Pip! Make sure to wear a hat and don’t forget the bug dope.

  • Edubeat

Hambones or Hams homour is in the eye of the beholder

    • Justin St.Denis

That isue leaves me completely hamstrung.
