we already have this in North America with the new vapour barrier requirements .
I live in a 50 year old kind of leaky house that allows air turnover I believe it is healthier than marinating yourself in off gassing furniture, flooring and air fresheners.

You’re on the Wet Coast, aren’t you? I understand that all houses out there are leaky.

Yes but it is a moderate leaky-ness . When the new airtight regs came in about 15 years ago the phenomena of rotting condos was born, build in wet weather using wet lumber, then bag it up tight and wait..after 3-5 years whole developments were condemned as rotten. My house is fairly tight but I heat with wood so for safetys sake i have an outside combustion air intake which drops fresh air under the stove, during recent renos the original structure is as sound as the day it went up. leaky houses have the ability to dry out.

My wife and I once stayed in such a structure while holidaying in Scandinavia. I have suffered from asthma since I was a kid. I awoke at 2:00 a.m. with my eyes swollen shut and in full asthma attack mode. Emergency at hospital immediately identified what had happened and why. Our money was refunded! We relocated the next day to a rather drafty seaside B&B and had a lovely seven-night stay.

its called tight house syndrome and it results from toxic accumulations of dust mites, dander, gases and aerosol propellants that just linger and blend with out dissipating. the gases coming out of all pressboard furniture and carpet backing are some of the worst.,

But I thought the whole point of the environmental movement was to eliminate humanity (other than themselves) from the Earth?
