Same-Sex Marriage Is a Right, Supreme Court Rules, 5-4

WASHINGTON — In a long-sought victory for the gay rights movement, the Supreme Court ruled on Friday that the Constitution guarantees a right to same-sex marriage.

Justice Anthony M. Kennedy wrote the majority opinion in the 5 to 4 decision. He was joined by the court’s four more liberal justices.

The decision, the culmination of decades of litigation and activism, came against the backdrop of fast-moving changes in public opinion, with polls indicating that most Americans now approve of same-sex marriage.

  • The Muslims will sort this out. Wait and see.

    • It is the future.

      • What? One alleged victim group over-riding another?

IMO it doesn’t work that way. The gays, or what ever other self mutilated queers there are out there, know they can badger Christians and get away with it. Christians for the most part do not slit throats. It would be amusing though to see of a queer couple have the balls, or not, to give it a test.

          • Yes but would anyone turn around to look if Islamofascists crashed a gay event?

            I say not.

  • Tom Forsythe

I don’t believe the polls. They are like the ones that say Americans want Amnesty and gun control.

    • Canadian

Any poll can call the right people and say that Just-in is a political genius.

      • Tom Forsythe

Exactly. When political parties do internal polls, they ask very different questions, because they want the real answers. When the media does a push-poll, they are trying to get certain results.

        • Canadian

They always use leading questions that can only have the results they want.

For the life of me I cannot find where in the American Constitution or Bill of Rights this “right” is covered. Of course it isn’t, and here we go again with more judicial activism instead of jurisprudence.

Even sadder, I’m seeing many (Protestant) clergy on social media cheering on the SC decision and bemoaning that their churches are not yet endorsing (or performing) same sex marriages. They seem to have forgotten we are called to be IN this world and not OF this world.

…bemoaning that their churches are not yet endorsing (or performing)

      … or consummating…

This must be the happiest day of Michael Coren’s life.

Except his conversion to theism Evangelical Protestantism Roman Catholicism Anglicanism!

      • Clausewitz

I thought he just converted to narcissism.

Nah, I think he has always been that.

        • BillyHW

He’s always been a member of that religion.

  • Hard Little Machine

I wonder if this will change their legal activism such as charging businesses that do not serve them? I suspect we’ll only see more of this.

Two days, two assaults on the Constitution. Day 1, equality under the law no longer is applicable in the US. By fiat Obama can pick and chose which portions of which laws he wants enforced. He can grant exceptions to his friends and supports and there are no longer any legal remedies since the Supreme Court has set the precedent. This takes the law back to pre Magna Carta days around the 1000’s. If Obama tries real hard I’m sure he can take us back to the 7th century like his religion wants.
Day 2. There is no longer any exclusion from government interfering with religion. The government can now dictate what goes on in the privacy of a church. This isn’t even an amendment, it “was: enshrined in the Constitution from the get go.
The free society of liberty in the US was nice while it lasted. Well shit, he did say he was going to fundamentally change the nation.

Barack Obama: Christian- Believes Marriage is Between a Man and a Woman

    • Gary

Meanwhile the gaystapo and homofascists in GLAAD went after the CEO of Mozilla because he had agreed with Obama in 2009 for traditional Marriage .

Don’t be shocked when 3 or 5 Person’s come forward and demand to be married as a Human Right because it’s now all about how you feel about someone else .
The next step will be when NAMBLA fights the Age limit for marriage and demands the Right for a Adult2child marriage which the pro-sharia muslims will also want.

  • DMB

If marriage is a right then is it now the government’s responsibility to find single individuals spouses gay or straight?

  • Tom Forsythe

Even if you support gay marriage, this was a terrible decision. It guts the rule of law and replaces it with judicial fiat.
