Aceh: nine sentenced to flogging for selling food during Ramadan

Jakarta (AsiaNews) – Flogged because they were selling food along roadsides, during the daily period of fasting and prayer in the month of Ramadan. This is the punishment handed down to at least nine people in Banda Aceh, the province of Aceh, the extreme western point of the Indonesian archipelago, the only area in the nation where sharia, or Islamic law, is rigorously applied.

This is a harbinger for Regent Park in the near future.

I don’t know Regent Park but some of the food I’ve gotten from food trucks is atrocious.

In Regent park, the leading cause of death is lead poisoning.

In Saskatoon, the leading cause of food poisoning is the Burger King on Confederation Drive,
And I used to love Burger King.

I grew up in government housing.
It was all shiny and new when we moved in there in 1973.
          Shoddy construction.
Frost on the windows was half an inch thick in January.
And the outgassing from the drywall and insulation gave me ‘hayfever’ for ages in the summertime.
          It disappeared once we moved.

The construction was fine in the old Regent park and it was a safe place for decades after it was built, but then Pierre Trudeau opened the third world immigration floodgates and the rest is history.

It was built in the 40’s and housed mostly British and Irish immigrants

there was crime but the Jamaicans and others turned it into a total shithole from hell. Now it’s the Somalians turn to take a kick at it.

I thought you were referring to Regent’s Park – a Royal Park, open to all, with a beautiful rose garden, London Zoo, an open-air theatre and space for all to enjoy in the centre of London.

    Definitely a new attraction …
