Fury over gender ban in Bordeaux Muslim grocery store

The south-eastern French wine capital of Bordeaux is up in arms over a Muslim-owned grocer’s decision to impose male and female-only days for customers.

A small sign outside the De L’Orient à L’Occidental (From East to West) store stipulated that women were only welcome on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesday and Fridays.

Men, on the other hand, were kindly asked to take their custom elsewhere on weekends.

The gender split was put in place by the store’s owners, recent converts to Islam, to make sure women and men do not meet.

Who knows? I could save marriages. Henny Youngman said that the secret of his successful marriage was that they went out three times a week. He went out Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, his wife went out Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

      Excellent idea.
I think more should follow it.
Cutting sales in half is the model of financial viability.

Can you feel the diversity strengthening us?

If they go bankrupt they will blame islamophobia.

My wife came home confused yesterday. She was at Walmart in Maple On and spotted 3 hijab clad women in McDonalds (inside the Walmart store) who ordered and were consuming orders of chicken McNuggets and fries.
After reading the Toronto Star’s latest article on how wonderful Ramadan is and how our Muslim neighbours are coping with Ramadan and how we can all join a Mo family to break bread (according to Rabbi Marmur in the Star even the sons of monkeys and pigs are invited) – how could these women be breaking the rules and be eating non halal food during the “holy month of Ramadan”?
I told her if their fathers or husbands found out their meal might be renamed “The Last Supper”.

Hey, give those bagged babes a break. They were spreading their wings! Finally! Who knows? Maybe next summer they will be dressed in capris and tank tops, and carry brand new divorce papers!

I actually know a few muslim women who lead completely secular lives. Some are even married to similar “muslim” men, while others married colleagues of mine. I actually know a couple of Saudi males who have “gone secular” as well.

When speaking of “muslim community” this or that, we are dealing with taqiyya and hypocrisy and islam. But on an individual basis, one MUST allow for the possibility that an individual male/female of said group may want a socio-religious “divorce” from said community. And, indeed, some individual muslims have “moved on”, so to speak, but without the “apostasy” of embracing Christianity…yet. 😉

Women who are breast feeding, menstruating or pregnant are exempt from the eating rules during ramadon. Some women plan to get pregnant just so they can eat during the month.

Hopefully they’re burn down all the vinyards and wineries, because you know, that’s an abomination. If only to hear the French politicians blame it on Israel.

What about those who don’t identity as male or female? I imagine the LGBT movement will have something to say about this.
