The Anniversary of the Statue of Liberty’s Arrival to the US

Merci, France!

Mesdames et monsieurs, “La Marseillaise”.

I think that was the last act of generosity that France has shown us.
    Am I wrong?
Now if we could just rip that plaque off the base that has that poem “The New Colossus”…
As K always says: “bad poems should not become the basis of an immigration policy”.
I fear that Emma Lazarus’ poem has done more damage to humanity than John Lennon’s “Imagine” and Marx’s “Das Kapital”, combined.

Er, well, all of my grandparents passed through the Ellis Island immigration intake next to the Statue, became solid citizens and raised their children accordingly. Such was the case with the great majority of immigrants between 1870 and 1920.

Yes, they passed THROUGH Ellis Island (meaning that they wer screened).
As many undesirables were sent back too.

One of my Grandfather’s (when he was 9 he came by himself as an orphan) was an illegal alien from Nova Scocia too.

If New York were to experience another 9/11 terrorist strike or worse we may see this in America’s future.
