Defence chiefs: UK ‘feeble’ on world stage

The military might of Britain has been rendered “feeble” in the face of threats from around the world, some of the country’s most senior military commanders have said.

Four former leaders of the Armed Forces issue a passionate warning about the decline of British influence, saying they are deeply concerned by the UK’s failure to act as crises grow in Iraq, Syria and Russia.

The four men — Admiral Sir Nigel Essenhigh, Admiral Lord Boyce, Field Marshal Lord Walker and Air Chief Marshal Sir Peter Squire — liken Britain’s inaction to the “appeasement” of Nazi Germany before the Second World War.

    Appeasement begins at home.

  • The US under Obama has also become a feeble appeaser. This is all the effect of PC philosophy – peace at any price: even if the bad guys (the Islamists, etc.) win, we (the virtuous disciples of Mahatma Ghandi) will die looking more ‘moral’ than they do.

Given the choice between peace and righteousness, always choose righteousness.

That is what Teddy Roosevelt said.

I say it too, as often as I have to.

I’ll save you the trouble of reading it. It’s all about Russia, war fatigue from Iraq and Afghanistan and budget erosion. No mention of the malaise caused by decades of welfare and social justice spending, Muslim ascendancy and corrosive leftist politics and policy. The comparison to 1939 is specious because Nazis weren’t marching in the streets of London, occupying a swath of parliament and sitting on local councils back then. In 1939 there was still considerable social cohesion.

    • Norman_In_New_York

In 1939, a buildup of British forces had begun because leaders recognized that something had to be done immediately to counter the threat of Nazi Germany even if building preparedness took some time. There is no such buildup today.

They’re building up a fifth column.

The UK will abandon its nukes soon. 1) they’re expensive, 2) they want to be seen as ‘peaceful-neutral’ and 3) the Muslims will demand it.

There is no substitute for total victory. Kill your enemies, deport their relatives back to the bombed out craters you left behind. Jail any judge that stands in your way. Britain must be Britain again.

The same goes for France; they both pillage the treasury on welfare and cheap housing for millions of invaders rather than spend on defense; one more reason for…!
