Is the Story of a Muslim Woman Insulted by Flight Attendant a Hoax?

Last week, there was yet another news frenzy over something that happened on social media. A Muslim Northwestern University chaplain, Tahera Ahmad, wrote on her Facebook page that she was in “tears of humiliation from discrimination” because a flight attendant refused to give her an unopened can of soda. Ahmad claimed that she was told that this was so she couldn’t use the can of soda as a weapon, and that another passenger told her, “You Moslem, you need to shut the f**k up.”

Pretty soon the story was flying around social media, and a hashtag campaign #unitedfortahera popped up. Major news outlets, such as CNN, ABC News, and the Washington Post, covered the story.

The Daily Show used the whole episode as the launching point for a bit about the allegedly rampant Islamophobia consuming America. United went into crisis PR mode, publicly apologized, and reassigned the flight attendant in question.

What’s really remarkable about this story is, near as I can tell, at no point in the last week did any of these major media outlets try and independently verify the details of of Ahmad’s story…

Moonbattery had an article that talked to some of the other pasengers and this nuts story is 100% made up and not her first fake claim either.

As I’ve said before, that ‘womans’ unibrow is picked off center.
      People smile in pictures.
      She doesn’t.
She looks like she wants to punch you in the face.
I’d like to return the favour.
If you put lipstick on a pig it is still a pig.

If you let the truth get in the way of a good story… you might not have a story to tell. Such is our mainstream media.

Muslims will gladly lie and ruin your life.

  • Look- facts get in the way of a perfectly good narrative.

When is it not a hoax?

  • Gettingby

Now the medias attention has turned to the Texas McKinney Pool Party, based again on unverified assertations, which so far have cost a police officer and a school principle their jobs, and will eventually cost the taxpayers millions sorting out the lawsuits and the he said she said BS.

She could open the can with her face…what a dog!!

We’re at the point where if Jon Stewart and The Daily Show says it, it’s probably made up bullshit.
