Richmond Hill city council fears “O Canada” might be unconstitutional

It hasn’t taken long for the Supreme Court’s dumb ruling banning prayer at city council meetings to trickle down to municipalities across Canada.

Yep… we are just going down the rabbit hole.

    • Maggat

Vote ndp or lieberal in October and will speed it up.

    THIS COUNTRY NEEDS AN ENEMA!!!!!!

  • Drunk_by_Noon

Do you want to borrow our national anthem until you guys get this sorted out?
    Really, it’s no problem.
Just give it back when you’re done with it.

It is a stirring national anthem. But I’m sure someone in progressive land will find fault with it somewhere. I mean the phrase “bombs bursting in air” is in it. Can’t have bombs can we?
But I really do appreciate the offer.

      • Drunk_by_Noon

Yeah, just replace all instances of violent explosions with the words “maple syrup” and you should be fine.

        • Maggat

125 ml Maple syrup mixed with 625 ml vodka. Not half bad, maybe it could become a national booze.

    • Minicapt

We already have the “Maple Leaf Forever”.

      Cheers

      • Drunk_by_Noon

        WELL, THERE YA GO! 🙂

        • Minicapt

… and it’s about beating the French.

          Cheers

The classics never go out of style!

      • Maggat

Please let us supplant the Oh Canada wooshie anthem with one that has some meaning and emotion—The Maple Leaf Forever!

When I was in elementary school we used to do a May Pole dance (ya I know) on May Day and sing at the same time, the Maple Leaf Forever. That is forever the Canadian Nation Anthem to me.

    • mauser 98

      don’t give Barry ideas

    • Maggat

That was touching, even for a Canuck.
Now if we could only get back “The Maple Leaf Forever” then maybe we could inspire Canadians in the same manner.

      • Drunk_by_Noon

One Nation, one People, one Maple Leaf!

a non white multicultural trans homo fluid non microaggression lesbian promoting anthem is what they want

    • Cheryl

It is not just the dykes. We have to deal with Muslims, Asians, Sikhs and whatever they bring in to this country to destroy it. I want to know when will the Canadians take a stand and protect this country like our ancestors did when they fought and died for what they believed in? It makes me sick to think that we are giving away this country for what our grandfathers and great grandfathers died for. Shame on the government and shame on us for letting this happen.

      • mauser 98

Pierre Trudeau said we are a multicultural society

  • Micky C.

This won’t stop until we’re obligated to sing The Internationale at the beginning of events.

    • Justin St.Denis

Or a Supreme Court judge is found strangled with piano wire in an Ottawa municipal park. I rather like the ring of that one, don’t you? Canada lacks a decent history of political assassination. Having such a history tends to keep the “elites” in line. And it’s never too late to start an historical movement, is it?

  • J. C.

Maybe when Khadr decides the time is right to commit a terrorist act, he’ll go after the Supreme Court.

    *Relax CSIS, I’m just speaking/typing in hypotheticals…

    • Justin St.Denis

If Khadr does, he should open a PayPal account. Many Canadians would support him if that was his target, hypothetically speaking of course.

Those 9 wealthy white Liberal Judges aren’t offended getting a pay Cheque from the same Canada , nor do they protest remembrance day tributes for them War dead that bought their freedoms to be a-holes and dolts bilking the Public to MAKE laws and not enforce them .
Next war , lets send the Sons and Daughters of lawyers, Judges , and Politicians to die for OUR freedoms so the poor can get the good jobs and end the Rich ruling class that Justin pretends to hate.
