American mother of three joins Kurdish militia fighting Islamic State jihadists

In the months before joining a militia to battle Islamic State of Iraq and Levant (Isil) jihadists, Samantha Johnston had led the life of a gregarious and adventurous small town girl.

The 25-year-old mother of three from Emerald Island had joined the US military but never served overseas. Instead, she travelled on her own initiative, posting on her Facebook pictures of herself bikinis from beaches in Japan.

stupid war is pure George Orwell, 100% BS
woman should look after her children. what about them?

        • Drunk_by_Noon

          It’s a little irresponsible

            It’s irresponsible a lot.

a video released of this woman being gang raped ,tortured ,beheaded..very possible

        • Surele Surele

Exactly, that was my first thought. It’s a noble gesture, but her first responsibility is for her family. Perhaps, it would be a different story, if her country, town, home were in an imminent danger. But in this case, I don’t thing she did the right thing.

UK & US continue to mistakenly drop arms , supplies to ISIS forces.
            what a crock

There’s good reasons young men are warriors, and y’all are smart enough that they don’t need to be repeated here.

She is “looking after her children”, in the most fervent way possible. She’s giving them a future by fighting her future oppressors now.

          • mauser 98

            not when dead
            she is a trained soldier?

  • DMB

Could she not have started collecting donations of non perishable goods and have them shipped to a group that will give them directly to the Kurdish fighters instead of leaving her family!

Little urchins need moms to guide their psychological development. I’m sure there will still be plenty of Muzz left to shoot after the kids are grown.

Women shouldn’t be allowed to vote. You know it. I know it. We all know it, but everyone is just too afraid to say anything.

  • ntt1

She should stay out of it and respect her obligations to her children.

  • Jay Currie

    Tough call.

This is an important fight. The Kurds need help and fighters and she is trained. But so are a lot of other people. Who don’t have little kids. I hope she survives and kills plenty of ISIS fighters. (No virgins for them if downed by a gal.) But I also hope she pulls out fairly quickly and goes and tells her story. She is a pretty girl, the camera likes her. She might be of more value raising money and arguing for better arms.
