Student Op-Ed: ‘Yes Means Yes’ Is Not Enough Because Sometimes ‘Yes Means No’

Jordan Bosiljevac

In the piece, Bosiljevac explains that she and her friends even came up with a phrase to describe someone having sex with you who you didn’t want to have sex with even though you told him that you did, which they apparently consider a form of rape: “We coined the term ‘raped by rape culture’ to describe what it was like to say yes, coerced by the culture that had raised us and the systems of power that worked on us, and to still want ‘no,’” she writes in the April 30 article, titled “Why Yes Can Mean No.”

  • I had a bizarre argument with someone on twitter today who basically imitated Humpty Dumpty insisting that words only meant what she decided they meant.

    • BillyHW

You had a convo with Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

      • Justin St.Denis

I can’t wait until her next movie. She was fabulous in the role of Tony Perkins’s mother in PSYCHO. That was almost 50 year ago now.

    • Frau Katze

There’s a lot of that crap about these days. Another sign of decline and fall.

Probably suffering the same mental disorder that defines one’s gender identify in fluid terms.

      • Justin St.Denis

        An Mx., in other words.

In your heart, you all know I’m right.

    Son.
Get a sex robot and put a ring on her finger.

Touch my CTRL key. Come on, baby, touch it. Isn’t it nice and grey and smooth? Mmmm…. That’s a good baby. Now, hit my RETURN key hard! Harder! Harder! Mmmmmmm…. That’s sweet, baby. Now, kiss my F9 key. Kiss it Kiss it Kiss it! Mmmmmm….. That’s so GOOOOOOOD, baby. 😉

I think I’ll stick to the real thing. Touch my real thing, baby. Mmmmmm…. That’s so goooooood!

      • dance…dancetotheradio

Hey, when I go up north I might look into that.
        Just hope Obama isn’t ‘listening’.

Are you sure you’re not Meg Ryan?

  • Alain

Well if yes can sometimes mean no, the no can sometimes mean yes. What a load of crap!

    • Justin St.Denis

A load of crap is a large quantity of shit, and a large quantity of shit is hard to swallow.

This is by way of explanation to the uninitiated who may not yet know that the crap dot and the shit dot can be connected. This understanding is key to locating the pissmark.

Simple rule: all women are 9 years old no matter what. They never, ever reach the mental age of consent. Even when they say yes they can take it back because, “because”.

    From which it follows…

This is not my fight but I have young sons and the “girl problem” is on the horizon. My main suggestion is to look for girls who have a sense of humour and who could be your friend. Not a solution but there are lots of girls and women who are, dare I say it, humans. Mistresses of their own destiny. Capable of consent and a good sharp slap if a boy “gets fresh”.

Leave the whiners and the feminists, but I repeat myself, to each other and their Hitachis.

    • Frau Katze

It’s pretty hard to influence your sons’ girl choices. My son made some mistakes (didn’t get worse than an accusation of paternity, fortunately disproved with DNA) but he married a good woman in the end.

      • Justin St.Denis

That sounds rather traumatic, frankly. May we assume a bitch was at the root of the problem?

        • Frau Katze

          Yes, she was a bitch.

          • Jay Currie

My older son, deep in the game, has a great girlfriend. But many a frog was kissed. With, apparently, consent.

If I were the father of daughters – and thank God I’m not – I’d have to tell them to take responsibility for their decisions. The alternative is to fail as an adult. 30 year old girls are very, very, boring.

      • WalterBannon

That’s because when it comes to women, our battle bridge is in command of the ship, and no one is in the main bridge paying attention to the warning gauges…

    • WalterBannon

Mistresses of their own density you mean…

  • Clausewitz

Yes means yes, until it’s time to politically screw some poor sucker over, but not in a good way. Is there any wonder why men are not committing to marriage these days when the rules are so easy to shift.

  • Clausewitz

Some interesting insights in this interview. Looks like men are just not going to take this shit any more. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04j1RqInHjE

    • J. C.

Watched that video a couple weeks back… T’is a good one.
I gave up on the idea of a relationship nearly a decade ago. Sure, there may still be a few pearls left out there, but a guy has to wade through an ocean of sh*t to find one these days… After a few unsuccessful dives (ah, the naivete of youth…), I realized the reward simply wasn’t worth the effort. And even if I happened to meet ‘The One’ tomorrow, it’s too late… I’m over 40, too set in my ways, too cynical, and too damn tired to ‘man up’ and be some reformed skank’s consolation prize.

      • Jay Currie

I suspect you’ll be surprised. There are some lovely women out there who actually are looking for cantankerous old buggers simply because they want men and not boys to father their children. They are all over but not in bars or gyms. Not pearls but not reformed skanks either.

But it takes some looking and a bit of a sense of your own value. “Set in your ways” is a starting point.

        • J. C.

Nah. Honestly, I lost all interest in dating and relationships around 32/33… At the time, I assumed it was because I was focused on other things (I’d gone back to college), but nothing’s changed since then. I just feel more ‘content’ nowadays… Life is what it is. Sure, there’s still a few things I’d still like to change, but adding a woman isn’t one of them. 😉

  • Hard Little Machine

They should simply remain celibate through college or perhaps as we used to say “LUGS”; lesbians until graduation. Because it’s an impossibility that any woman will ever be charged with any sexual assault on another woman in any college, ever.

A man in college should seriously consider only dating women are not in college. There’s almost no upside and a helluva lot more risk to dating an angry coed snowflake.

  • Jaedo Drax

Since she seems unable to give consent, guess that means that she can’t sign a contract, or get a job, or well do pretty much anything…

It might be wise to post a copy of this article with her picture on the wall of every bar and frat in the state, just in case.
