OK kid. But you’ll never be King.

The royal baby’s here! Kate Middleton, Duchess of Cambridge, is ‘doing well’ after giving birth to her second child weighing 8lbs 3oz

The former great britain goes all agog about a “royal” birth. Big deal. The people down the block have a dog that just had puppies. It happens. But then again the dog doesn’t feed off the taxpayers money.

        Great video.
I’d always heard that they were a net positive in terms of revenue for the UK but did not know why. I’d always assumed it was just the tourism angle.

      • Nan

The funny thing is that I’ve bought vintage royal tourist memorabilia a couple of times; I bought a plastic Elizabeth coronation doll, with the date written on a shred of paper taped to the dolls foot, a more typical carnival toy, and an Edward scarf. I’m not sure which Edward was being crowned because it just says Edward, not a number.

An heir and a spare! Now that Kate has provided the Royal Family Firm with what they want, she will have to watch her back at every turn. How long will she last? That’s anybody’s guess, but I think most can agree that it won’t be too long…….

    • She seems a nice young Lady.

      • Drunk_by_Noon

My thoughts as well. She seems okay.
I remember at the time (early 90’s) not particularly like likening Princes Diana or Sarah Ferguson very much, but I don’t know where the extreme dislike for the royal family comes from.
Take them away and the UK truly has nothing left anyone.

        • Kit Ingoldby

You actually think that the UK has ‘nothing left’? You really need to get out more…..

          • Drunk_by_Noon

I have been there a few times and have friends there.
They all want to move here.
It’s a land of limited opportunity, they say.

          • Justin St.Denis

Very limited. We are bringing over two cousins from Perth, Scotland. Now, Perth is genuinely beautiful! But when you have post-graduate degrees in the sciences, Scotland is no place to be in the 21st Century. They are both in their late-30s. I’ve already got one an job interview scheduled for late June! You’ve no idea how desperate some economic sectors are for competent English-speaking people with valid science diplomas from top UK and European universities!

          • Kit Ingoldby

If your friends tell you that the UK has ‘nothing left’ then they need to seek urgent medical attention for the clinical depression they are suffering from. And you need to stop being such a credulous idiot.

          • Justin St.Denis

Maybe Mr. Drunk By Noon’s friends – like mine – remember the time when the UK offered so much more. Did you consider that? Just a suggestion.

          • Kit Ingoldby

Why would I consider that your friends are living in delusional nostaglia? You really need to get a grip on reality and stop spouting complete rubbish.

Part of the problem with Diana is that she was 19 when she married a man twice her age. I’ve read that his uncle, Lord Mountbatten, told him he couldn’t marry Camilla. It’s really too bad that he didn’t.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

I’m sure everybody knows more than I, but wasn’t Camilla’s reputation already quite tainted?
I’m not terribly enamored with Diana but at least she injected some good looks into that family tree.
I think Kate Middleton is even better looking and doesn’t piss me off like Diana did.

          • Nan

Diana had no sexual history. It would’ve been better to let him marry who he wanted; no scandal.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

I think that’s why Diana got the nod. Everyone was thinking back to Edward the Eighth and Wallace Simpson.

          • Nan

They were thinking of Camillas great grandma who had an affair with Edward.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

            Oh really?
I do remember that at the time (but I only heard about it years later) that the entire Royal household was very paranoid of a serious scandal bringing down the entire monarchy.
Now I think Prince Andrew could eat a baby and nobody would care.

      • Justin St.Denis

        Yes she does.

    • Are you serious? You make it sound as if the Sopranos hold the Crown in the Buckingham Palace. If you refer to Diana, she was a woman of questionable values, not a victim (Charles and her were made for each other) and in the end of her life she turned into a full-blown Muslim whore. I hope William didn’t inherit any moral traits from them – as of Kate, so far I haven’t heard bad about her.

        • Clink9

That’s hilarious. Never seen that before. She would still be alive if the seatbelt was used.

      • Justin St.Denis

I wasn’t referring to Diana in particular at all, btw. Re-read what I wrote.;-) and check out history. Once a royal wife has provided what the ruling monarchy needed, an heir and a spare, her value is compromised.

Ready for an arab arranged marriage?

A baby was just born, and it’s a wondering thing to be celebrating the birth of a child. Why the snotty little comments? Does it make you feel good to trash traditions? Britain, the United States, and Canada are all dumping the bad, bad past in order to have a selfish and empty future where no one cares about anyone. People in Britain used to rally around God, country, and the monarchy. As they slowly throw that all away, the British are devolving into a country of political correctness where nothing really matters, and there is no future.

    • David Murrell

Good comment. As an American-born republican (now a Canadian citizen), I see positives in the Royal family. Also , this morning (Saturday May 2), the royal birth shoved the Baltmore black whining off of the lead stories, in our media cartel.

      • Justin St.Denis

As a dual US/Canadian citizen, I must agree with your sentiments. Canadians MSM and American MSM are both equally shitty, but there ARE small priority differences which provide respite here in Canada. I still find that major American MSM tend to be written to a higher standard than Canadian outlets. But the US talent pool is far larger, which probably explains it.

I am a tad squeamish to admit that I was born in Detroit, Michigan, BUT at a time when it was still a bustling American success story (just before the decline started). 😉

        • David Murrell

I remember once a young woman I was dating (she was living in Windsor at the time) took me to a black-run blues bar in Detroit on a Saturday night (this was around 1987 or so). I was never so scared in all of my life.

    • Exactly – giving up traditions empties the historical memory and identity of a nation. And the followers of Marx and Old Mo are ready and willing to fill the vacuum.

    Congratulations! Princess Charlotte???

  • tom_billesley

Because of the change in succession law, she bumps Prince Harry off his spot in the order of succession to the throne.

    • I don’t get this change. The spot of monarch is now meant to be open to all? Egalitarian? Freed from stuffy old traditions?

      Just seems silly is all.

      • Justin St.Denis

This is based upon the idea that women are equal to men, and princesses are EQUAL and JUST AS GOOD AS PRINCES when it comes to inheriting the throne. I would think that would be embraced by women. It only seems right to modernize some royal traditions, and that one was ripe for it. Princesses are equal to princes in the 21st Century (as weird as that sounds!) 😉

        • The whole point of these traditions is that they are not equal. Otherwise, where can I apply for the job of Queen?

          • Justin St.Denis

Not quite sure I understand what you’re driving at. The inherent inequality of the whole concept of monarchy/Royal Family? If that’s your point, I have to agree.

          • I’m thrilled women can be British monarchs, and so I am going to run for Queen.

My platform is that I’m kind to animals without being disruptive about it.

If I send you my newsletter will you campaign for me?

        • Okay, I’ll try it like this: what do I care if “princesses are EQUAL and JUST AS GOOD AS PRINCES when it comes to inheriting the throne” if a commoner such as myself doesn’t have a lawyer’s chance in paradise of being Queen?

It’s silly. You want egalitarianism, you don’t want a monarchy. That’s all.

You’re pissed off because princesses can’t inherit quite as much as princes can? Guess how much of my time I spend fretting about how princesses of the Blood Royal are screwed over by the system.

          • Justin St.Denis

Hey, cool your little hoodies there, Mamba. I AGREE with you. I am merely pointing out the weird optics of the Royals “updating” themselves with gender equality in light of the fact that they are the Royals.

But I also have heard a Brit friend say “Better Royals than Riyadh, chap!” 😉

  • Nan

She has the wrong equipment to be king but may still end up as queen.
