Jeb Bush: Islam hijacked by ‘barbarians’

Jeb Bush, a likely Republican US presidential candidate, said Thursday that Islam has been hijacked by “barbarians” who seek to “destroy Western civilization.”

At an event at the National Review Institute in Washington, Bush was asked whether he thought Islam was a religion of peace.

“I’m sure for some of the practitioners, but it’s been hijacked by people who have a [sic] ideology that wants to destroy Western civilization, and they’re barbarians. And so that part, which is the part that we need to confront head-on, is clearly not a religion of peace,” he was quoted by The Guardian as saying.

“And I think it’s – you’re not offending the sensibilities of people that are peaceful in the adherence to their faith when you say what I just said,” he went on…

  • Jeb Bush was hijacked by the Bush family.

    • I have a soft spot for Dubya, but they are awful, really, aren’t they?

      • sockpuppet36

        what is wrong with jeb?

        • Mass immigration fan.

          • sockpuppet36

really? I’ve don’t recall him ever calling for mass immigration? you think he wants 100 million Chinese to immigrate tomorrow?

          • Mexicans. Look it up.

          • sockpuppet36

lol. yes he is married to a Mexican. that doesn’t mean he is for mass immigration. what do y’all even mean by ‘mass’ immigration?

          • mauser 98

Jeb & “Gang of Eight” amnesty bill that would have provided citizenship,
public benefits and other goodies such as work authorization for every illegal alien in America.”

            http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/03/13/jeb-bush-publicly-endorses-gang-of-eight-amnesty-bill-in-new-hampshire/

          • dance…dancetotheradio

If they can hack that for a few years then maybe they deserve citizenship.
If they can hack that for a few years then maybe they deserve citizenship.
If they can hack that for a few years then maybe they deserve citizenship.
If they can hack that for a few years then maybe they deserve citizenship.

          • sockpuppet36

amnesty and mass immigration are two different things. I think he is wrong on his view on amnesty to illegals, but that is only one issue, and not that important of one either.

          • mauser 98

if mass migration consists of illegal aliens how is it different?
40 million illegals allowed to vote is not important?

          • sockpuppet36

amnesty is giving citizenship to illegals already here.
mass immigration would be allowing 10 million foreigners to come to America every year in the future.
what 40 million illegals are allowed to vote?
I don’t know what the guy means by ‘mass immigration’. that is my question. what does he mean that jeb is in favor of mass immigration? and I don’t follow what your comment is either really. what are you trying to say?

          • mauser 98

Jeb is a traitor.. illegal amnesty illegal aliens immigrants documented BS ……….. whatever

            disaster…your point

          • sockpuppet36

my point is that the person who says he is for ‘mass immigration’ is making a stupid statement. my point is, giving amnesty to those already in country illegally is different from future immigration policy. my point is that y’all speak in strange platitudes that make no sense.

          • Mike3, dahlink, is that you? If it is, you have the dubious honour of being the only person I’ve ever followed on Disqus, because you get into such fun fights. Welcome!

Disagreement is awesome. Don’t let anyone say otherwise. You’re a good dude. Just pick a name and stick to it, at least on this blog, okay?

          • mike3, dahlink, is that you? If it is, you have the dubious honour of being the only person I’ve ever followed on Disqus, because you get into such fun fights. Welcome!

Disagreement is awesome. Don’t let anyone say otherwise. You’re a good dude. Just pick a name and stick to it, at least on this blog, okay? I like to keep track of stuff.

          • sockpuppet36

yes I’m mike3. not dahlink though. I wish I could stick with the same account but the sites I like to comment on block accounts from time to time. I tried to stick with mike to make it obvious but rawstory blocked mike4, mike5 and mike6 nearly instantaneously. and don’t get me started on those muslim over on loonwatch. even your girl Pamela Geller has blocked me 4 or 5 times. defense of freedom of speech, lol. ironically she and hatewatch have that in common.
anyway, should be interesting to see what they say about texas over on patheos. I’m going to predict they ignore it. the ahmadi guy, quasim Rashid, might pull out his position of imposing ‘bullying’ laws against freedom of speech.

          Are you posting from Mexico?

          • Justin St.Denis

Edward Bear’s last “hit” was called “Last Song”. I always found that really strange.

          • sockpuppet36

            no, I’m in tampa bay.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Then why do you feign ignorance of his proposed immigration policies?
Do you work for his campaign?
            Are you AstroTurfing us?

          • sockpuppet36

sorry I don’t know what astro turfing is? is that a texas reference because of the bush family? I don’t think there is astro turf left anyway. no I don’t work for his campaign. I don’t feign ignorance of his immigration stance. I disagree with him on amnesty, but that doesn’t automatically make him a bad candidate. and I think saying he is for ‘mass’ immigration is a misrepresentation of his views on immigration. he beliefs immigration helps fuel growth. and if done right, that is most certainly true.
so you are against all immigration?

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Other than your consistent bad punctuation And your torturous, yet consistently ignoring all rules of capitalization, that read like a campaign press release.
            Well done!
So, is this your first job out of college? What was your major?
Did the Jeb Bush campaign provide you with a style guide for reference?

          • sockpuppet36

yeah, I’m lazy. I don’t bother with capitalization or punctuation much. I’m an extremely poor typist, can’t hardly ever get to the shift buttons.

lol. no this isn’t my first job out of college. nor is this even a job. my degree is in accounting, not that I’ve ever been an accountant really. I’m 46 years old.

as you see my language skills are poor and I can’t spell. looks like I said beliefs, when I meant believes. so I don’t normally correct other’s grammar, but shouldn’t it be, consistently bad? don’t you need an adverb to modify the other adverb, bad?

          • dance…dancetotheradio

Astroturfing is the practice of bolstering ‘spontaneous’ demonstrations with people paid to be there.
Leftists use projection to accuse actual spontaneous groups like the TEA Party of paying there members to be there.
In fact, leftists routinely employ astroturfing by bussing in people to demonstrations.

          • Frau Katze

He really is in Florida….I just checked from his IP address.

          • sockpuppet36

thanks boss. I live at 2211 3rd av n st. Petersburg if you want to google earth my house. let me know if the blue ranger rover is still parked on 3rd av. if so the satellite has been back around for like 5 years.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Is that the two story house with the plywood windows that looks like meth lab?
            What are you “Breaking Bush”?

          • sockpuppet36

yeah that is it. must be a fairly new picture. the ranger rover must be gone then. is the white corner store still there to the east? or is the corner an empty lot.
no, I’m not breaking bad, I’m redoing my windows. are the three on the east still plywood? I’ve actually got them in now.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

            Ohhhh…
I described the house across the street at 2011!
Personally, I don’t care where you live, but I hope your home improvement projects all turn out marvelous, but I don’t think you are for real.
I’m sure you are a real person, but you aren’t really a concerned citizen looking to start a dialog either.

          • sockpuppet36

thanks, I hope it turns out marvelous too. I should really be out working on it right now, but oh well.
ok, not sure what makes me ‘fake’? I’m a life long registered republican, although I consider myself a libertarian. I’ve always found politics quite interesting. I like discussing politics all the time. I think discounting bush already is a mistake. it’s a long campaign season. beating Hillary should be the number one concern for republicans. I personally would like to see a kasich/rubio ticket. hell I wish Kasich would have beat W in 2000 in the primary but he didn’t have the staying power back then. nor has he declared for this round and he may not even run. if that is the case I think a Walker/Rubio might be a good ticket. but I’m not discounting anyone at this point.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Rubio pissed me off so much in 2012 that he is on my never-again list.
Ted Cruz and Scott Walker are, so far, my favorites.

          • sockpuppet36

what did Rubio do in 2012 to get him blacklisted by you?

        • WalterBannon

          what right with him?

          • sockpuppet36

he did a good job as governor in florida. he is pro business. he is a moderate republican who can garner independent’s votes.

          • Justin St.Denis

But he’s a RINO, and America needs someone much stronger to reverse the tides that Obama has caused. So, fuck Jeb Bush, so to speak. Too weak, shoulders too narrow, too soft and too entitled. Jeb is ready for the pastures of history. Whatever imprint Jeb could make in his political career has already been made. Jeb is done like dinner.

          • sockpuppet36

so was Reagan a RINO? he gave amnesty to the illegals.

well. if being tough on immigration, not sure if you are against all immigration or just illegal immigration?

“Whatever imprint Jeb could make in his political career has already been made” that is just a silly statement.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

Yeah, Reagan gave amnesty to the illegals.
And there was supposed to be a fence involved wasn’t there?
I remember Chucky Schumer (oi vey!) from that time.
Fast forward thirty years later and he’s saying the same things.
            Still no goddamned fence.
            ——-
Chuck Schumer’s daughter says Dad can I borrow fifty dollars?
Chuck Schumer says forty dollars, what do you want thirty dollars for?

          • sockpuppet36

I don’t remember if there was supposed to be a fence built as part of the amnesty deal in the 80s or not? so why couldn’t Reagan build the fence?

          • dance…dancetotheradio

            You’re right, he didn’t.

          • sockpuppet36

he didn’t build it, or he didn’t propose it as part of the amnesty package?

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Yeah, he’s so “pro-business” that he wants to create a permeant underclass of imported Mexicans and Central Americans that will drive down the wages forever of everyone else.
            Screw him!
If he gets the GOP nomination I’m putting a Hillary sign in my yard and I will vote for any libertarian running.
            The man’s a toxic loser.

          • sockpuppet36

that maybe true. lots of big businesses are pro-immigration to keep an ample supply of workers available to keep wages down. but when you keep wages down you also keep the price down. do you want to pay people $20 an hour to pick tomatoes, strawberries and oranges?

          • Drunk_by_Noon

With welfare benefits we are actually paying much more than that, but the burden of costs have been switched over to the taxpayer.
If this keeps up, we’ll all be selling oranges on the street corner.
Finally agricultural jobs are less than 2 percent of all immigrant jobs.
Nice try at misdirection. Deftly handled!

Why do we need ANY immigration while the number of Americans not participating in the labor force is at an all time high?

          • sockpuppet36

            how was that misdirection.
“Finally agricultural jobs are less than 2 percent of all immigrant jobs.” ok, if you say so. I would love to see a link for that stat, because a lot of people claim the illegals only do jobs that native born americans won’t.
me personally, I would eliminate all welfare and secure the border and deport all illegals. but no politician is going to do that. we don’t need immigrants if we do a radical restructuring of our social welfare programs. but I don’t hear anyone talking about eliminating welfare or even going to ‘workfare’.
so where are the other 98% of immigrants working? construction? cabbies? packers?

          • Drunk_by_Noon

            https://www.numbersusa.org/pages/jobs-americans-wont-do
They say 4% nationwide, and the 2% I heard recently on the radio for California.
All jobs done by immigrants (legal and otherwise) are jobs that could be done by Americans, at a fair wage that was not artificially depressed.
We did them before, why would we not do them now?

Wages in construction have been flat for THIRTY years. That used to be consider a good semi skilled job, but not anymore. It’s barely over minimum wage anymore.

          • sockpuppet36

thanks, i’ll check that link out.
I agree. unfettered illegal immigration has depressed wages. and most definitely americans can do those jobs as we have in the past. my mom likes to bring up how she picked onions during the summers back when she was in high school. hell a couple of years ago I took some old appliances up to the scrap yard. I noticed there was one older black guy and a bunch of Mexicans. I went over to the black guy and asked him how long he has been working here. he said 30 some years. I said, ‘yeah you look familiar. the last time I was here I was in high school and you look familiar’. then I said, ‘you are still the only black guy here’. he laughed and said yep. funny thing was, all the other guys were white back in the 80s.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Hell, here in San Diego non Hispanics can’t even get a job flipping burgers because they have hired so many illegals.
Also, in many areas of construction, there are now serious problems with ethnic nepotism in that the Mexican foremen will ONLY hire Mexicans, while citing a need for bilingualism.

          • sockpuppet36

yeah the Mexicans don’t like the central americans and vise versa. that reminds me of a show I saw on immigration. it was about Farmington (I think that was the name of the town)New York. I think a woman sent her 15 year-old daughter to the local store to buy some milk and she had to walk by the Mexican day laborers on the corner and they cat called her. she told her mom and she called city hall. so then the city started to enforce codes on how many adults can life in one house. it blow up into a national story because the pro and anti immigration organizations descended on the town. anyway, long story short, at the very end of the show they did a follow up interview with the Sherriff after the national attention had faded. he said that things have calmed down but that there is a new group of immigrant in town and that the older ‘established’ immigrants are asking him to do something about the new ones. they were all Mexicans, but the new guys were from mexico city and the old guys were from rural parts of mexico. the new guys were apparently much more aggressive when potential employees came by. he described it as a ‘flying wedge’.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

The ethnic nepotism extends to all non-Hispanics. Mexicans will hire Mexicans first, and then down the individual’s personal preference, but many/most refuse to hire whites or Anglos.
White people are not hired and they are told it is because they cannot speak Spanish or speak it well enough.

That one thing alone tells me we need an actual several year long moratorium on ALL immigration from Mexico and Central America.
I would also institute a 100% tax on all remittances sent to those countries too by their citizens living and working here.
When that money leaves the U.S., it’s out of our economy forever.

          • sockpuppet36

I agree that immigrant remittances drain our economy of capital. but I don’t think you can outlaw that, or as you propose put a 100% tax on them. a 20% tax proposal would be interesting to see. I’m sure the liberals would call it ‘racist’, but it would be interesting to see the reaction. hell, they act like deporting someone to mexico is equivalent to putting them in gitmo.
I always wonder why if mexicans are so great, why does mexico suck so much?
you should do and undercover sting on these Mexicans who won’t hire whites.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

They have outlawed remittances to Cuba and Iran for the last 35 & 55 years, I’m sure we could do it with Mexico if we wanted.
A 100% use tax has president and would not even be an outright prohibition.

I’d love to do a hidden camera sting, got any leads on a film crew and a producer and money I can borrow?

          • sockpuppet36

yes we have outlawed remittances and even trade with some countries. sorry for my ambiguity, I wasn’t saying it isn’t technically possible or unconstitutional. I’m saying it is not politically viable. any candidate who says he won’t allow the Mexicans to send money back to their families in mexico would be demonized. when has a 100% use tax been imposed? and what idiot then tried to use that service?
you don’t have a cell phone that records audio and video? maybe you can borrow one. a go-pro could work. the technical part should be easy. what are the laws in California on video and audio recording is the question. then again if you release an illegally taped conversation of someone discriminating against you, being arrested might be the best thing that could happen to ya.
I have a friend in San Diego, he is a geologist but maybe he would be interested in getting involved. he is white after all, but he used to be kind of liberal back in college. but I thnk having lived in cali for 20 years has cured him of that?
