Baltimore police go on high alert after ‘three gangs threaten revenge killings against officers for death of Freddie Gray’ as thousands gather for his open casket funeral

Huge lines to say goodbye: People arrive at New Shiloh Baptist Church in Baltimore to see Freddie Gray one last time before his funeral

Police in Baltimore have gone on high alert over fears their officers will now be targeted in revenge killings following the death of Freddie Gray on April 12.

On the day thousands – including luminaries of the civil rights movement – attended the 25-year-old’s funeral, the Baltimore police department said they have received credible information three gangs want to ‘take out officers’.

Despite pleas for calm, it is claimed the Black Guerilla Family, the Bloods and the Crips have ‘entered into a partnership to ‘take out’ officers.

The Baltimore PD said they were now taking ‘appropriate precautions’ to ensure they safety of their officers, although they did not say what they were…

According to the interviews that I’m seeing on TV, the reason they are rioting is… ummm… “NO RESPECT!”
The rest could not even articulate an answer as to why they were rioting.

Then a black city councilman wandered in front of the camera and blamed “institutional racism”.
‘Institutional racism’ in a black controlled city, while the “youths” were looting a liquor store not more than 20 feet away, and on the other three corners.
Everyone seems to be fat and wearing $200 tennis shoes.

And now the youths are setting the liquor stores on fire after they are done looting them.
    Well done “youths”!

  • Gareth

So the Crips and Bloods are joining hands to … uhh… protest the violent deaths of young black men. I guess there is no word for “irony” in ebonics.

      Funny because it’s true!

Many cities in the US are poor and that has to do with lack of investment to help the average person for 30+ years. Instead of these presidents spending money in wars, they could have invested in people and there would be tons left over. Of course the US has only been worried about dividing, maintaining power and using people over many decades. The examples are also quite poor at the top. So this is a Republican and Democrat issue. They have been poor examples of leaders. The other important thing to add is that short-term planning has been done for many decades as well and why the infrastructure in the US is abysmal; it is why about half the US population is below or near the poverty line; it is why food bank use is at an all-time high. Basically both parties are interested in fighting each other rather than helping the average American. No wonder the people are angry. The private sector also refuses to invest with taxes being massively low.

    • Billy Bob Thornton

These events are caused by political failure and police failure rather than the average person. And why many should demand better from all in government.

      • Uncle_Waspy

Billy, replying to your own post is kinda schizoid.
But it’s not a binary situation. Spend big money on pointless wars in the ME or spend big money on the black hole of “gibsmedat!” Here’s a crazy radical idea — how about neither?!

        • dance…dancetotheradio

          Fucking hear hear!!!

          • Billy Bob Thornton

Except that their manufacturing was outsourced years ago and the US doesn’t make anything anymore. The government has to dismantle their free trade agreement and be for protectionism again. The way China grew was by not only allowing more capital but by keeping a lot of their protectionist measures. I am firmly against higher class tax cuts and for more tax cuts that allow for small business growth. Corporations should be paying much higher taxes because it is shown that corporate welfare is not a help for society as a whole. And yes the US has been about individual liberty for far too long and their system lacks I would say 40 to 50 million jobs. That has to do with outsourcing, lack of taxation, tax evasion and the US being a corporate state. A flat tax will not fix the US. They have a massive corporatist mentality engrained in their nation. They need to remove the oligarchy, remove the corporate nature of their country, and choose the China model. China is communist in name only and I would say is more capitalist than the USA.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

You assume that they ever actually worked Billy.
They aren’t just “unemployed” they are UNEMPLOYABLE.

          • Billy Bob Thornton

Central planning will fix the USA and not unregulated capitalism which has been around since the Reagan years.

          • Drunk_by_Noon

Yes, “central planning” did wonders for Russia and Eastern Europe.
Are you trolling your own posts?

          • Billy Bob Thornton

That’s not communism because since 1998 Russia became a superpower again through some government intervention, some nationalization, some nationalism, and for the most part it is a state capitalist system and it isn’t communist. It may be oligarchic and regulated but the system has low debts and my main concern in a system is full employment rather than businesses having freedoms. I care more about full employment.

          • Billy Bob Thornton

Central planning can cover many ideologies like capitalism that is regulated, fascism, communism, socialism, state capitalism.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

            Central planning.
That’s the opposite of saying you had me at hello.

          • Billy Bob Thornton

Well regardless of ideology the government has to have a hand in their system so central planning is inevitable.

After 1998 Russia became a superpower again through some government intervention, some nationalization, some nationalism, and for the most part it is a state capitalist system and it isn’t communist. It may be oligarchic and regulated but the system has low debts and my main concern in a system is full employment rather than businesses having freedoms. I care more about full employment.

So yes central planning does work and their system is working well. It is the sanctions which are hampering the Russian economy.

          • Uncle_Waspy

A flat tax most certainly would work. But a flat tax is very anti-big gubmint. And that will not do!

          • Billy Bob Thornton

I believe libertarianism is just anarchy by a different name. It is just an anti-tax ideology which does not create opportunity. You need a regime like Putin’s to get real opportunity. Russia is running smoothly and is state capitalist which is the real form of capitalism and not the kind we have now. Tax cuts don’t create opportunity. You need a mixture of state intervention, small businesses and a massive regulated corporate structure. That is what we had in the 50’s and 60’s and that was the golden era of capitalism. The Reagan years were just catering to big business and that is all we had since then. It was also an era of when service economy jobs were the main focus. If a nation loses its manufacturing capacity then it becomes a nation of no jobs. That is why the government should never sell out the nation!

          • Xavier

Well then go form your own country.
            And good luck to ya.

I thought they did get kind of rowdy in Edmonton over a hockey game. In Canada, it’s always drunks and sports that cause these things.

        • Uncle_Waspy

Okay…..we’ll wear that hat. Perhaps the comparison comes down to frequency. Bad things happen in YT communities, that’s true. But bad things happen with far greater frequency in “underprivileged” communities.

If poverty is the cause of crime, then why is there far more violent crime in Washington DC than in the impoverished shack-dwelling hicks in West Virginia?

          • Gareth

As you can probably tell from my earlier joke, I’m with you on frequency etc. Just sayin.’ And I live in Vancouver, well, Burnaby now. Vancouver is too expensive to buy.

        • lolwut?

I was there, the ones flipping the cars were Indians, the ones looting stores were Asian.

The worst of the worst were brown.

At the end of the day though, it was pumped up in the media
it really wasn’t as wide spread at the media portrayed it as
it was essentially contained to 1 square block of Vancouver
in front of the Canada Post station.

          • Gareth

I’m sorry but I saw plenty of white folk behaving badly. It really isn’t hard to find footage.

          • dance…dancetotheradio

            Really?

          • lolwut?

Yup, the ones leading the charge to flip vehicles and start fights were East indians and the ones breaking windows and going into stores were Asians… Chinese and Filipinos.

            I was there, ground zero

I also have a friend who worked at the London Drugs, I was working at the Bay at the time.

I saw the security footage that wasn’t shown on the news.

Nearly 100% asians doing the looting.

          • Gareth

            HHe’s probably an albino asian.

          • Gareth

            Image didn’t work first time

          • Gareth
          • lolwut?

            Again, I was there.

Asians were the ones smashing windows and going into stores and taking things.

It was Indians who were instigating the flipping of cars and attacking people along with a good deal of Persians/Arabs.

As for that picture, that guy was stopped by white people
and the crowd around that police car was actually very small
just a bunch of people standing around watching.

White people at the Stanley cup riot were mostly just spectators
of the Asians, Persians and Indians doing the damage and hitting people.

          • Gareth

You just wasted a lot of words. It is pretty easy to find pics and vids of white people behaving badly. I just showed you a white guy lighting a police car. Anyone else who cares can easily find plenty of stuff online.
Do you think you are the only eye witness? Do you think that simply by saying “Again, I was there” means we should respect your authoritah! instead of our own lyin’ eyes. Seriously?
When you say you were there, you saw everything? Are you some kind of God, or shape-shifter that can occupy many places at once? Aces if you are!

            Just for fun:

          • lolwut?

Actually I spend the entire time from when the first bottle was thrown
to the very end, casually walking in and around observing who was doing what.

Like I said, even the media and blogs of the event will back it up
90-95% of the people there were just standing around watching
talking selfies and idiot poses in front of what a tiny minority of the crowd did.

Only a couple of stores were really looted, most were a few broken windows, the number of destroyed or damaged cars could be counted on one hand.

It was isolated to 2 corners literally….. in front of the Canada post building and London drugs.

          • Gareth
          • El Martyachi
          • Gareth

            Yeah, way better.

          • lolwut?

            And?

As I said, the overwhelming majority were just standing around watching the events and posing for photos with things going on in the background.

As riots go, the Stanley cup riot was a non event

especially compared to what blacks do on a Daily/weekly basis.

            – Flash mobs robbing stores

            – Beat whitey nights

            – Knockout game (Randomly punching white people on the street).

            – Beating up teachers in classrooms

            https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkffs7dlQWuM3HKUM4LeMVA

          • Gareth

Wow. Flash mobs, knockout game… You know, I didn’t talk about any of these things. I think you are arguing with yourself more than anything. It also doesn’t address the fact that plenty of white people and asians took active roles in the Hockey riots.

Thisis is your comment that I have been responding to:
“Don’t see this happening in poor white neighborhoods.
            This is a black thing.
So is blaming everything on someone else.”

Seems black people aren’t the only ones who like to “blame everything on someone else.”

          • Gareth

You seem to be about the only person who can’t accept that white people are capable of being jackasses. Most people, like say Uncle Waspy, can acknowledge a fair point or two, which I have repeatedly done with pics and videos to back me up. You on the other hand, offer nothing but stories and a demand to respect your authoritah! You mention all sorts of things that have nothing at all to do with what I said. Why? Is your reading comprehension poor? I suspect there is a different reason. I think your biases have clouded your judgement. Yes, black culture may be kinda fucked, but that does not mean that all white people are paragons of virtue. I present to you. In case you need a reminder:

          • Gareth

There was supposed to be a pic of Trudeau and Wynne. Didn’t take for some reason.

        • Frau Katze

There was a big difference in that riot and the ones in the US. It was a bunch of drunks looting. There was no particular racial animus against a given group.

Sports makes some people crazy. I admit. But sports riots like that are the ONLY kind we have in BC. And they don’t happen very often. That was an unusual case.

In the US, these are happening regularly, with intense resentment against non-blacks. That’s a much bigger problem.

    • Xavier

Then why aren’t the poor whites rioting?

  • barryjr

Not working I’m at home with the TV on Fox all day and I have heard 3 times Freddy Gray was arrested for making eye contact with the police then running away no other reason for his arrest. The chief of police has said that this is true and that he was thrown in a van and then driven off without being buckled in contrary to proper procedure. Unlike Ferguson it sounds like the police even by their own admission are at fault here.

    • Drunk_by_Noon

Maybe, but how come we haven’t heard from the other guy arrested that was in the back of the van with him?

      • barryjr

Because he is afraid of the cops, there was another case of this happening 2 years ago in Baltimore and the police had to review their procedures. I agree 100% the thugs need to be stopped but the cops have stirred it up pretty good and their mayor hasn’t helped much.

        • Drunk_by_Noon

          Could be.
In any event, you can lay this riot at the mayor’s feet.
She just told the thugs they could run wild with no curfew tonight.
Police ordered to not do much + no curfew until tomorrow + gangsters = RIOT!

          • barryjr

            You summed it up perfectly

        • lolwut?

It’s called a “Rough ride”,. so you can probably guess what they do.

There’s another technique called “Starlight tours”, cops take you out into the middle of nowhere and dump you in your socks and underwear to walk back home.

Saskatchewan and Manitoba cops have gotten into trouble with that
because they’ve done it in the winter and people have frozen to death
when they got lost because they were drunk.
