Auschwitz survivor angers co-plaintiffs in SS officer trial by saying prosecutions should stop

Eva Mozes Kor, who publicly forgave and embraced former camp guard Oskar Gröning, says stopping the case would help counter neo-Nazi Holocaust deniers in Germany

    Hey, it’s her choice.

Compromise: stop on the Centennial of the Fall of Berlin.

This is a real toughie and there are a lot of “buts”.

First of all, what good does it do to carry hate in your heart? You cannot change the past.
Second, Oskar (his name conjures up images of Grass’ Tin Drum) was a 10 year old boy when he joined the Hitler Youth. What choice did he have? If he had not, he would have been socially isolated. It is easy in retrospect to say he should have said no. But look what’s happening to our children today — being brainwashed into accepting homosexuality and transgenderism. And don’t let me forget global warming. Unless you’re a very determined parent, how the hell does one combat that kind of brainwashing?
Despite all this, Oskar seems to have retained some sense of morality. When I did a 400-level course on the Third Reich in the early 70’s, one of the things that surprised me was learning that few of the German guards in the camps had the stomach for the messy details involved in extermination, They were replaced with those who had no such qualms — usually eastern Europeans.
Last, but not least, living well is the best revenge. Mazel tov, Eva. May you live the rest of your days in good health and happiness.

Yes yes, it’s never the Germans’ fault. Let’s blame the Slavs instead.

The industrialisation of the genocide, the fact that Jews were to be killed in the same way bovines would on an assembly line, is what replaced mass-killings and bloodier initiatives. Not Eastern Europeans. It offloaded the mental and logistical burden of the various Rumbulas and Babi Yars for the troops.

Eastern European Askaris were mainly used to patch up labour shortage as the war dragged on. Their [German-led] pogroms were also part of the pre-industrial phase. Looks like that 400 lvl course didn’t drill that into your head in the first place.

First of all, what good does it do to carry hate in your heart? You cannot change the past.

Truth be told, I don’t know, and I couldn’t care much either.

I’m busier trying to imagine you typing the same kind of stuff if Jews and Germans were replaced by, say, Turks and Armenians right now.
Ahhh, I bet this would go down well wouldn’t it?

What is it with you people constantly asking for Jewish forgiveness, perpetually humanising those who are unworthy of being humanised?

      Knock it off already.

Well, you’ve certainly read a lot into what I did NOT write.

she is right, and it is her prerogative to forgive.

  • If she wishes to forgive this man, what can one say?

However, his debt to society must still be paid.

Holocaust deniers will say whatever they want no matter what happens.

    Two words: Stockholm. Syndrome.
