Dad Pens Heartbreakingly Honest Obituary for His Daughter: ‘For Some Death Is a Matter of Choice’

Tom Parks took to Facebook last week to write about his daughter, the wound of her death the night before still very raw. Instead of gushing about his love and how much he’ll miss her though, Parks wrote 161 words that candidly spoke of his daughter’s addiction.

Last summer, a kid died just a few houses away from me, sitting on the toilet in his parent’s house with a needle in his arm; his father knew he had a problem and checked on him every 15 minutes so he’s the one who found his son dead. His friends had saved him from ODs several times before (oddly, he too liked to shoot up in restaurant bathrooms), but they wouldn’t rat him out to his parents or help put him in treatment. I blame them, too, and told them so. Our local high school, in a blue collar rural community, is full of heroin – the students say it’s easier to get than beer. What a waste.

But don’t worry – the Muzz will fix the drug and immigration problems in the U.S. that we aren’t willing to tackle.

    • Addiction is a brutal mistress. I would not wish it on anyone.

So, Vancouver — how are those “safe injection sites” working out for you?

  • Terribly sad.

Addiction is a bane of society.

People must be in dark places to ruin themselves with drugs.

True, but a good part of the problem is the availability. I don’t think it’s necessary for me to go on a rant about border control and lax drug laws.

      • I think most countries in southeast Asia have the right idea about drug dealers.

As for drugs users, treat it as a medical problem, which it is.

    Recipe for getting OFF drugs

    1) BREAK THE IMAGE OF IT’s BEING “FUN/COOL” TO DO WITH FRIENDS

    2) IF YOUR FAMILY HAS A HISTORY OF DEPRESSION, ADHD, ANXIETY etc ‘THIS” Could be the reason the drugs felt good briefly at the beginning before the sickness of addiction took over

    3) SLOW WITHDRAWAL

(cold turkey is what Amy Whinehouse did and she died because her organs went into shock and completely shut down)

    Example: Heroine by needle

    FOR 1 MONTH

remove 1 drip from each needle

    FOR 2nd MONTH

remove 2 drips from each needle

    FOR 3rd MONTH

remove 3 drips from each needle etc…

When you have HALF-WAY KICKED YOUR HABIT

See your psychiatrist (if there is depression, ADHD, Anxiety etc in your family)

so when you are off the Heroine you can be put on the correct meds

    &

    Take EMPOWERPLUS

to get rid of the withdrawal symptoms … be sure to let the EMPOWERPLUS people know if you are on ANY drugs as vitamins/minerals can interact and there is the potential for overdose
…. this worked for me when I came off an anti-depressant
