Windsor Ontario: The blow knocked the 13-year-old to the ground where the attack continued, say witnesses in Superior Court on Monday. Mitchell knows he was hit more than once, but can’t recall how many times.
Another neighbour saw the hammer swung repeatedly before stopping suddenly.
“I couldn’t believe he was alive actually,” Colleen Seto told the court. “I was surprised he got up. I really didn’t think he’d be OK.”
Rafid Jihad, who was 28 at the time, is being tried this week for attempted murder in relation the attack on Church Street near the downtown last year. Defence lawyer Frank Retar isn’t contesting Jihad’s role in the attack, but says there was no intent to kill anyone.
