Teen facing terrorism charges ordered by Edmonton judge to undergo psychiatric evaluation
A teenager who allegedly planned to leave Canada to join the terrorist group Islamic State will undergo a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation.
Prosecutor Rob Reimer requested the evaluation at the 17-year-old’s court appearance Monday morning. Submissions to support the application for an evaluation are under a court-ordered publication ban, as is the youth’s identity because he is under the age of 18.
As with previous appearances, the youth said nothing as he appeared on a courtroom screen from the Edmonton Young Offender Centre.
