Turkey’s top religious body issues Fatwa allowing toilet paper

Turkey’s Directorate of Religious Affairs (Diyanet) has released a fatwa stating that usage of toilet paper is permissible within Islam, though it emphasized that water should be the primary source of cleansing.

Reminding that for a prayer to be religiously legitimate, one’s body, clothes and the place where the prayer is to be performed should be free of items defined as “unclean” by Islam, the fatwa said the cleaning should be conducted with water.

“If water cannot be found for cleansing, other cleaning materials can be used. Even though some sources deem paper to be unsuitable as a cleaning material, as it is an apparatus for writing, there is no problem in using toilet paper,” read a part of the statement.

Note to self: Never shake their hands. Even fist bumping may be hepatitis to your health.
Toilet paper is one of the hallmarks of civilization.
Although, sometimes my parents ran out of money before payday when I was a kid and we had to use the Sears catalogue.

Sears is okay but I would object to using Eatons.

This is part of Islamic supremacism.

They use the squat toilet and water, which actually does a better job than scraping off poop with paper. They also do the cleaning with the left hand only. If you see someone shaking hands with their left, it’s a secret insult.

Muslims pick the dirtiest part of the body (for those wearing sandals in that part of the world) and wash their feet five time/day before prayer.

When they say the infidels are unclean, they mean figuratively and literally unclean.

Islam is composed of various mechanisms like this, and the collective effect is a very powerful totalitarian ideology.

You have to pray 5 times a day in public, so you never forget your religion and everyone sees who’s there and who isn’t.

You’re kept in place by fear, and rewarded by feeling superior. The carrot and stick, and many other mechanisms (eg. no birth control) have created a social steamroller that is, so far, squashing all other ideologies.

        • Justin St.Denis

Hey! I didn’t know that! Thanks.

BTW, coloured toilet paper is still available somewhere! I was just at a B&B that used PINK toilet paper in every bathroom.

‘Tis still. Walmart in Stittsville carries it in black, purple, hot pink and electric green, IIRC. Probably available at other WMs.

          • mauser 98

            i stand corrected

          • mauser 98

heard it was made illegal years ago.

It is, indeed, at an end.

OK, so Canadian Boy scouts definitely should not shake hands with Muslim boy scouts.

    • winniec

Good analysis. You left out how they consider camel’s urine a tonic, rather than a source of SARS.

      • Miss Trixie

May they drink their f***ing fill. Stupid savages.

    • Mickey Oberman

Don’t they also consider camel urine a healthy beverage?

Sorry. I am not up on this subject.

What does a desert dwelling Muslim where water is a precious commodity do? Recycle it????

      • tom_billesley

They use an odd number of smooth stones when there’s no water. It has to be an odd number – they’re heavily into numerology.

Turkey’s directors of religious affairs all squeeze the Charmin.

When discussing muslims the topic always turn to crap.

Obsessive compulsive. Mohammed superstitiously used an UNEVEN number of stones.
Anyway, don’t these people have more important problems?

    • Mickey Oberman

What could possibly be more important to somebody who five times daily must bow behind somebody’s behind.

Do you recall Queen Elizabeth once exclaiming “Anus horibbilus”?
      I wonder……………. Naaa. You think????!!!

    • tom_billesley

Did the fatwah specify how many pieces to use, and whether to fold or scrunch?

  • roll

    Poo palms. Eww

  • simus1

No doubt all this strange backsliding allowing infidel toilet paper is very worrisome to all my close muslim friends. Perhaps the turkish government could award a research contract to prove some eminent muslims first produced toilet paper long before the infidels after allah appeared in their dreams and gave them the great secret process.
    Where will it all end?
    Halal Jello?

Holy jeepers! Wow. This bit of Islamic teaching is a new one for me.

  • phuque uguugle

Coles in Ulladulla have “halal” toilet paper. Do they eat it because it is halal, one wonders if they use it first.<:o)

    • Frau Katze

I saw that yesterday (a reference to halal tp and wondered what on earth it was about. )
