Rolling Stone Retracts Article on Rape at University of Virginia

Rolling Stone magazine retracted its article about a brutal gang rape at a University of Virginia fraternity after the release of a report on Sunday that concluded the widely discredited piece was the result of failures at every stage of the process.

The report, published by the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism and commissioned by Rolling Stone, said the magazine failed to engage in “basic, even routine journalistic practice” to verify details of the ordeal that the magazine’s source, identified only as Jackie, described to the article’s author, Sabrina Rubin Erdely.

On Sunday, Ms. Erdely, in her first extensive comments since the article was cast into doubt, apologized to Rolling Stone’s readers, her colleagues and “any victims of sexual assault who may feel fearful as a result of my article.”

And zero sympathy being shown for the falsely accused, both in this article and the “apology” by the reporter. I think the closest they get is where she says sorry to the “U.V.A. community”. Both this article and her statement actually make me even angrier than I was before.

Precisely. I hope the men libeled by Ms. Erdely and Rolling Stone
sue them and leave both parties with smoking craters where their bank
      accounts used to be.

    • It was a despicable “apology”, however it may be used as evidence of malice when the Fraternity sues her sorry ass.

Especially when Rolling Stone has announced that there will be no punishment, at all, directed to the liars involved in fabricating this mess. No punishment whatsoever.

  • It’s not the first time, neither would it be the last when the media promote the lies of a feminazi whore.

Nor should you! You did it fair and square.

It’s not about rape, UVA or bad journalism.

It’s the twisted world view of the left wing.

    ……….Sharpton would not retract

‘Jackie’s’ have been graduating from Undiversities for some time now and will continue to do so – unlike their male victims. Why aren’t ‘Jackie’s’ railroaded out of school ?

I would suggest she actually did “engage in basic, even routine journalistic practice”. The new feminist, agenda driven, “feels before reals” Tumblr, check your priviledge journalism. And by those standards, it was a fine piece of journalism . . . Shitlord!

There is at least one positive to this horrid media story: the establishment media cartel is at least reporting the Columbia School of Journalism results. It was hilarious watching the panel discussion of CNN liberals — Obama cronies all — discuss this on the CNN morning show. They had on the CNN host — Chris Cuomo, son of former Democratic governor Mario Cuomo — hosting the discussion — along with some CNN thingy reporter; CNN media analyst Brian Selter (a confirmed Democrat leftie) , and this big overweight fat black woman host with long unkempt hair. The discussion was ultra-politically-correct, but hilarious. At least the establishment media was forced to talk about the media corrupt out in the open.
