Controversy Over ‘American Pride’ Themed Dance at High School

There was a time in America, not too long ago, when the most controversial question in the country was whether the Yankees should be broken up.

We took a lot of things for granted back then — things I wish now I had appreciated a little more. This is especially true after I read this incredible account of how school advisors in Lexington, Massachusetts, tried to talk the junior class at the local high school out of holding a dance with the theme of “American Pride.”

Here’s a related story. A tenured professor at a private college in Connecticut made an apparently accurate, but anti gazan/pro-israel facebook post last summer. He deleted it a month ago, on the same day he received a complaint from one student. Now it’s a big deal on campus, and the administration seems to be knuckling under.

Free speech for all – except white Christian conservatives.

      Didn’t you get the memo?

  • Liberals, you day is coming. You have so screwed up this country even your children are starting to fight back.

Feeling pride in one’s country and one’s cultural is a healthy and normal thing. Without it there is only national and cultural suicide that remains.
