Jeremy Clarkson to be sacked by the BBC

Jeremy Clarkson is to be sacked as Top Gear presenter after a BBC investigation concluded he did attack a producer on the programme.

Lord Hall, the Director General of the BBC, is expected to announce his decision on Wednesday after considering the findings of an internal investigation.

Clarkson, 54, will be thanked for his work on the hugely popular motoring show, but will be told such behaviour cannot be tolerated at the Corporation.

It is understood a report into the so-called ‘fracas’ at a North Yorkshire hotel, concluded that presenter spent 20 minutes verbally abusing producer Oisin Tymon, before launching a 30 second physical assault on him.

Punching out a producer because you didn’t have your favorite food ready and waiting after a shoot is a sure sign of a major league a-hole.

    • Bollocks. Clarkson’s the man. Stupid BBC.

      • I knew he’d be controversial;)

        • It’s not as if he goes around punching people a lot. He says he never punched anyone in his life until he punched Piers Morgan.

He punched Piers Morgan! My hero.

That should get him a freebee, but roughing up subordinates (that essentially cannot fight back – unless they never want to work again) is pretty low.

          • Well, fair enough, but I’m willing to give him the benefit of the doubt. Who knows what happened? The BBC does have a history of putting up with, you know, questionable behaviour.

But, yeah, maybe he got drunk and acted like an a*****e. That can’t be tolerated. Believe me, I’m the last person who’d stand up for belligerent drunks in positions of authority who enjoy abusing people. I’ve experienced it, and they can go to hell. But I do get the impression there’s more to it than that.

It does seem to me that he’s one of the few people on the BBC who anyone actually likes.

It’s a way to get out of your contract with the BBC.

    And he is who?

Check BBC Canada when Top Gear is on. Basically he’s the only talent on the show except for the Stig. No need to really watch it anymore. He basically was the only one to call a crap car, a crap car.

They may as well close down Top Gear, then. Clarkson is Top Gear and Top Gear is Clarkson … as they discovered when trying to reproduce Top Gear for other markets (Australia and the US, for example). Those non-Clarkson shows were woeful.

      yes.. US show was terrible.

      • Rick McGinnis

Was? It’s still on the air!

        • mauser 98

!!… i thought that died years ago.

Clarkson was fired before. few years back he admitted to driving a Bugatti at twice the legal speed limit on M1 . BBC fired him and hired him back few days later.
TopGear is top money maker for BBC. he may be back

Look on the bright side. It could damage the BBC.

Hammond and Mays said they wouldn’t continue the show without Clarkson, so they should just find another network and start another show called ‘Second Gear’ (or something…). TG’s a money-maker, so I’m sure someone would pick it up…
