More guns, less crime: Harper’s comments match hard evidence

Canada’s liberal elite are still losing their minds over Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s “vanilla” comments about gun ownership.

The Edmonton Journal in particular ran an over-the-top editorial denouncing Harper in particular and gun ownership in general that reads almost like a work of satire — but the editors were quite serious.

Brian Lilley explains what’s wrong with the “studies” that gun-hating liberals always cite, and explains what the statistics really reveal about gun ownership and crime.

For instance, some regions in Canada have higher murder rates than their American neighbours. How do anti-gun leftists explain that?

I heard his interview on the NRA news last thursday and it was a good summary of how the left is trying to use the gun issue as an election issue.

Obviously well-armed Americans are streaming over the border and hunting Canadians, for sport!
Because we’re all a bunch of bloodthirsty dicks.
I’m waiting for that theory to gain traction in the Globe and Mail.

    • Is it nice living in California and not having to shovel snow all the time?

Check out the weather in Halifax. I no longer think in terms of “days of the week”. I now think in terms of “last storm” and “next storm”. Sort of like Mad Max, but, obviously, with snow.

That reminds me, I need to close the sliding glass doors in the living room.
        BRB!
Yes, today’s HIGH was 72F here (63 now), while I notice that Halifax NS seems to have gotten up to a balmy 12F right now.
        Go Halifax!

It’s not all wine and roses here however, tomorrow our UV Index is supposed to be brutal 7, while yours will be a safe and sane 1 or a 2, so you got that.

        I’m sorry.
        I’m so very, very sorry.

Harper said gun ownership is not a right in Canada.
    Screw him.
