Expert Cites Toronto Star’s Misleading Headline As Bigger Threat Than Muslim Terrorism

OK, expert blogger BCF here, today the Star ran this lie, CSIS highlights white supremacist threat ahead of radical Islam

The article in fact goes on to discuss so called “Lone-Wolf” attacks specifically rather than the overall threat of Muslim terrorism.

“OTTAWA—“Lone wolf” attacks more often come from white supremacists and extreme right-wing ideologies than from Islamic radicalism, internal CSIS documents say.

Citing recent academic research, the unclassified documents note extreme right-wing and white supremacist ideology has been the “main ideological source” for 17 per cent of so-called lone wolf attacks worldwide.

Islamic extremism accounted for 15 per cent of such attacks, the document noted, while left-wing extremism and “black power” groups followed with 13 per cent. Anti-abortion activism (8 per cent) and nationalism/separatism (7 per cent) rounded out the list, while in 40 per cent of cases there was no clear ideological motivation.

I guess we should ask CSIS and the RCMP what percentage of resources they have devoted specifically to countering Muslim Terrorism versus Basement Nazis. Especially in light of their recent pleas for more resources to handle the burgeoning Muslim terrorist threat caseload:

The RCMP has doubled the number of Mounties on counter-terrorism investigations, with 130 of those officers hunting for possible suspects who may have aided Michael Zehaf-Bibeau’s murderous rampage, RCMP Commissioner Bob Paulson told parliamentarians Friday.

In response to what Paulson said is a steadily rising threat of terrorism on Canadian soil, 600 officers and staff are now assigned to counter-terrorism operations, an increase of 300 positions since October.

“I’ve not seen a tempo and pace of (counter-terrorism) operations like this. It is an unprecedented alignment of our resources,” he told the committee.

And no, those 600 officers aren’t there watching Basement Nazis. This is typical of the agenda driven media, distort the facts to support a narrative at any cost.

The article is worthy of Iran’s Press TV, not what passes for an alleged mainstream news organization in Canada.
