The Nation: we must show solidarity with men who have abortions

“We must acknowledge and come to terms with the implicit cissexism in assuming that only women have abortions,” wrote feminist activist Lauren Rankin in July 2013 in truthout.com. She went on to criticize as exclusionary slogans like “the War on Women” and “Stand with Texas Women.”

Such claims may sound arcane to most people. One area in which they have been quietly effective, though, is in reproductive-rights activism. Abortion funds, which offer help paying for an abortion when Medicaid or insurance won’t, have become a thriving hub of grassroots feminism.

…In the past few years, a number of the funds have quietly removed references to “women” from their messaging in order to be more welcoming to trans men and others who do not identify as women but can still become pregnant.

What about amorphous gametophytes who don’t identity as men or women but have nipples and other mammalian traits? Many would desperately love to have a beta cell mass to abort. But, through no fault of their own, they are unable to conceive. As it stands right now, they have to imagine they are paying a back-alley doctor to terminate their unwanted non-pregnancy. Many can’t afford it. It seems nobody cares.

    Definition of a journalist:

A left wing dipshit who thinks it’s a wonderful contribution to th greater good to give voice to every bizarre, nutjob pervert who wants to whine about something weird and inconsequential.

My God the inmates really are running the asylum.DNA is DNA and all the social engineering in the world will not change biological fact. All else is at best a whim and at worst a severe mental illness. If I self identify as Napoleon will I be sent on an open ended holiday on Alba?

There are a few rare genetic conditions where the person is neither XX nor XY. Plus there “mosaics” where some cells are XX and other XY. These people truly have a biological condition.

But they’re pretty rare. Most DNA irregularities cause other dreadful effects and in most cases, a spontaneous abortion results.

So it’s not clear why trans and gays are the way they are.

Perhaps over time it will be made clear but in the meantime it seems more policy is being made to fit ever smaller percentages of our society. it is a dictatorship of the minority over majority well being

          Very true.

Go pro-life, and be against abortion for both men and women.

If a woman who considers herself a “man” had an unplanned pregnancy (I guess from having what she considered to be “gay sex”?) and wanted an abortion, I’d be in favour of letting her have one for mental health reasons, same way I would if she considered herself to be a leopard or a seahorse…such delusions do not indicate fitness for parenthood.
