The stunning colours in the beach scene are the same – gold and blue – as used in the movie 300.

My musical offering this week is “The March of the Siamese Children” from “The King and I” by Richard Rodgers. It takes place when King Mongkut (Yul Brynner) introduces his offspring to their new teacher Anna Leonowins (Deborah Kerr). What makes this so moving is not only one of Rodgers’s most beautiful melodies or that the kids are impossibly cute, but Brynner revealing the king to be a proud and loving father behind the stern facade of an absolute ruler.
