Not all Satanists evil says expert…

Pig’s head in a pentagram left outside Montreal Police Brotherhood building

“The overwhelming majority of persons or groups of religious Satanists are firmly law abiding, and openly denounce vandalism or criminal activities done in the name of Satan,” Cimminnee Holt, a lecturer of religion at Concordia University wrote. “Many Satanists are even pro-establishment and pro-law-enforcement, recognizing it as a necessary part of the social contract for all to live peacefully.

“Many Satanists are even pro-establishment and pro-law-enforcement, recognizing it as a necessary part of the social contract for all to live peacefully.”

If that were true, then why are they not Quakers?

    • DVult

If they were pro-law-enforcement they would have left a box of donunts not a pig’s head.

        Mmm. Sprinkles.

Because it’s their guy — not the Quakers’ — holding office.

Let me guess: no shrill cries of “hate crime!,” no rushing to the police equivalent of the mosque by the media to let them know they’re on their poor persecuted [sarc] side.

I didn’t realize the united church was so active in Quebec.

My understanding of Satanists (admittedly, rather limited) is that their primary belief is in power, and its exercise for an individual’s personal gain. Therefore, cooperation with others and following the “rules” is sometimes in their best interest. Many (most?) do not believe in a personal being, Satan, but think of him as a representation of liberty and power (“Lucifer”=”light bearer”). They are extreme hedonists who do as they please (restricted by pragmatic considerations and self-interest, of course – they probably don’t enjoy spending time in prison any more than the rest of us).

    • andycanuck

That’s a very good explanation, Jason. Better than my view that it’s people play-acting at having a religion without any of those bothersome rules.

    • Justin St.Denis

In other words, just your average sociopaths passing for normal. Got it. That means about 25% of the population are potential satanists by my estimates.

Cops need to put up a sign directing any similar future deliveries to the address of the nearest mosque.

Perhaps they thought the Montreal Police Brotherhood was the same as the Muslim Brotherhood. Or then perhaps they know more than I.
