Doctors perform world’s first penis transplant

CAPE TOWN – South African doctors have successfully performed the world’s first penis transplant on a 21-year-old man whose organ had been amputated three years ago after a botched circumcision.

The nine-hour operation, which took place in December, was part of a pilot study by Tygerberg Hospital in Cape Town and the University of Stellenbosch to help the 250 or so young South African men who lose their penises each year after coming-of-age rituals go wrong.

Just what kinds of coming of age rituals are they performing?
    Maybe they should stop.

It’s a joke. Just lay it on the table for our initiation ceremony. CHOP with the machete. Laughs all around.

The “doctors” are used to doing FGM slice & dice.

Ritual cutting of the penis. Ritual scarification. They also have a form of circumcision that involves the young man standing perfectly still while an elder does the procedure with no anesthetic. The idea being that you prove you are a man by staying perfectly still and not showing signs of pain. If you flinch there can be an accident.

    • Ouch!

      D’ya think?

  • Icebow

Give it to me straight, Doc. How long have I got?

    • moraywatson

You have long enough, but you’ll go blind before you die.

When I hit puberty, I learnt Braille just in case. My financial adviser categorized me as ‘cautious’.

        • moraywatson

Yes. You’d be wise to stay away from a bull market!

  • Xavier

This means that *anything* is possible.
If you know what I mean.
It’s gonna cost a fortune though.

This would have been welcome news to Joe McClock, the guy who was born with a corkscrew cock. He lived his live in the fateful hunt for the only girl with a corkscrew c*nt. He found that girl, but then fell dead, for her corkscrew c*nt had a left hand thread!

    The replacement was white. eeeek

Or maybe the penis of a stray Thai drug runner.

Myself, I, mine had to go thru a reduction process. Doctors noticed I was having difficulty as an infant, progressing from the crawling stage to where I could stand…

Now wait for the dkyes to find this out.

Cutting off parts of the genitals of babies is a disgusting, barbaric practice.

    • Justin St.Denis

Didn’t hurt me in the least. But it was a different time then. I never even saw an uncircumcised penis until I was well into my 30s. Back then, swimming at school was done naked (I have never understood why this was). An uncircumcised penis would have been noticed. It was a time of greater conformity. Just pointing out how things come and go as “trends” and “styles”. Personally, we had our sons circumcised. I note that my three grandsons are also circumcised. I think sometimes it’s just a family thing. Medically speaking, it is undoubtedly more hygienic in practice. But many would disagree.

A lot of boys are cut because their fathers were. The medical science shows how important foreskin is to the penis. It has tens of thousands of nerve endings that add to sexual pleasure, it protects the glans and keeps them from drying out and becoming keratanized, and also assists in intercourse, along with stimulating the woman. It is there for a biological, evolutionary reason. Not to mention that it is removed from a human being without that person’s consent. Unless there is a pressing medical need, like phimosis, there is no need for it. The idea that it is more hygienic doesn’t hold true, now that we have clean water and soap, and parents are capable of teaching a child to properly cleanse himself. Let adult men decide to have the procedure done if they so choose. Don’t do it to little babies who have no choice.

So, are you saying that if you needed a penis transplant and the only available “fit” was a circumcised one, you would refuse it? 🙂

          • Speaksvolumes

No of course not. If I needed a penis transplant, I’d take what I could get. Better that than nothing at all.

          • Justin St.Denis

Wow. That’s really….magnanimous of you. If I was “donating body parts”, though, I think I’d put a “reserved for Jews” on mine in that case. 😉

            Or Muslims.

    • Minicapt

Why are you an inveterate boor?

      Cheers

That’s some kind of learning curve

So no matter which hand the recipient uses it feels like a stranger’s?
