NEW YORK – The Islamic State has created the new Twitter hashtag #We_Are_Coming_To_Rome, terrorism analyst and director of the Search for International Terrorist Entities (SITE) Intelligence Group Rita Katz said Thursday.
“ISIS to Rome, God willing,” the Islamists added, alongside photos of armed convoys carrying militants in ski-masks bearing ISIS banners.
Libyan groups affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS) “continue to spread and take more terrain” and “their flags can be seen in Tripoli, Sabratha, Sirte and Ben Jawad,” said Abdullah Al-Thinni the prime minister of the Tobruk-based government recognized by the international community, on Thursday…
The Hadith that refer to Rome may be referring to Constantinople (‘eastern Rome’ and called Rome in the Muslim world, now Istanbul). Nonetheless, the residents of Italy are interpreting as the current city of Rome.
A few tweeters were confused by ‘O Rome’ and thought it should be ‘to Rome.’ The use of ‘O’ is archaic in English, but its equivalent is still used frequently in Arabic.
Tomorrow is strike of public transport. Good luck. #We_Are_Coming_O_Rome
