Australian Copts ‘now under threat from ISIS sympathisers’

AUSTRALIAN members of the Coptic Orthodox Church are now under threat from Islamic State sympathisers, their leaders say, after the terror group ordered more attacks against them and filmed the beheading of 21 Christians in Libya.

Describing the global threat posed to members of the church as “very real”, its Melbourne leader, Bishop Anba Suriel, sent a text message to Tony Abbott raising concerns over the graphic beheading video and Islamic State’s call for the further killing of Christians.

Bishop Suriel said he would discuss the threat with authorities while seeking assurances that police would increase patrols at Coptic churches in Australia…
