Several centuries ago the peasants of England revolted against their masters and one of their leaders, a dissident cleric, rallied them with the cry, “When Adam dug and Eve span who was then a gentleman?”
Good question. Who indeed is a gentleman? Not many, and not many ladies in politics, if we define both by their integrity, gentleness, respect and commitment to others. The latest Eve being Eve Adams, a rather cosmetic creation who rose from the banalities of municipal governance to the banalities of the federal variety.
