Premier Kathleen Wynne is giving Ontario residents until spring to tell her government whether they would prefer a carbon tax, or a cap-and-trade tax.
As you may have guessed, it’s not really a choice.
Carbon taxes raise the taxes on goods and services while cap-and-trade raises the prices.
In both cases the government gets more of our money and we keep less of ours.
What we also know about both carbon taxes and cap-and-trade is that neither do the thing they are supposedly designed to do, which is to lower greenhouse gas emissions linked to climate change.
