OTTAWA – If Awso Peshdary is a radical Muslim, the cues don’t appear to have come from his father.
“I am Muslim, but I drink alcohol and I hardly ever pray,” says Swara Peshdary, standing beside a welcome sign in the doorway of his home in Plantagenet, east of Ottawa.
The father of the Ottawa man accused of conspiring to send Canadians to Syria to join ISIS claims he is not even devout, let alone radical. While he was not ready to sit down and discuss his son with the media, he was friendly and cordial Tuesday night.
He learned of his son’s arrest from QMI Agency. He initially reacted with surprise and doubt.
