Iran making Mo flick

Amid global controversy over depictions of Muhammad, a multimillion-dollar biopic of the Prophet’s life is causing further controversy in the Muslim world. The Iranian film, premiering on Sunday, will be the most expensive production to be made in the country.

Mohammad, Messenger of God will be shown at the opening ceremony of the Tehran’s Fajr international film festival in Iran, an event that coincides with the 36th anniversary of the Islamic revolution.

… However, the film will avoid causing offence by not including shots of the Prophet’s face…

I swear they’re just making up these crazy rules.

No problem with having cRaZy m0E’s face inadvertently seen reflected in a drinking glass, window, or mirror on the set…Why? m0E has no reflection, because he has no soul…

His image is etched in stone above the entrance to the Supreme Court in the USA , his holding a sword and the quran .
How long before the quranimals go nuts and demand it be jack hammered of the Header right near Moses who they say is a muslim just like jesus is.
You can’t make this stuff up , we’re all muslims and the quran orders us to submit to allah and accept mo as a prophet , even when he never once gave a prophecy .
The islamic State is neither islamic nor a State ,the muslim prophet is neither a Muslim nor a prophet .

      • It’s a funny thing: Muslims boast about that Supreme Court carving. It’s a major Islamic achievement for some reason. But I’ve pointed out before on Twitter that according to their own crazy rules such a depiction is, you know, the equivalent of calling the Pope’s mother a loose woman who no cook-a the nice spaghetti. I got one Muslim guy to admit that, on reflection, I was right.

I hope he doesn’t decide to decapitate Ruth Bader Ginsburg or something.

Several major islamic clerics have given a special dispensation to that carving.

CAIR tried in 1997, but the Chief Justice said “No”:

        Cheers

        • Objections submitted by CAIR:

          1. Islam discourages its followers from portraying any prophet in artistic representations, lest the seed of idol worship be planted.

          2. Depicting Mohammad carrying a sword “reinforced long-held stereotypes of Muslims as intolerant conquerors.”

          3. Building documents and tourist pamphlets referred to Mohammad as “the founder of Islam,” when he is, more accurately, the “last in a line of prophets that includes Abraham, Moses and Jesus.”

We can all enjoy #2, but #3 is more interesting in that it demands that Mohammed not only be described as a historical figure, but that articles of the Islamic faith which are held by non-Muslims to be baloney be laid out as facts.

Mohammed revised and corrected the errors made by Jews and later Christians, which were included in their versions of “the Book”. When arguing against Mohammedanism on the basis of Biblical teachings, one is using evidence which is demonstrably and conclusively wrong. And thus the blasphemy is accentuated.

            Cheers

          • Yes. The default Muslim position is paranoid conspiracy theories.

A sane person might think it’s obvious that the illiterate Mohammed had a sketchy, incomplete, second-hand knowledge of Jewish and Christian scripture and thus got a lot of it confused and generally mucked up. Someone however who felt the need to believe that he really was in communication with God, then well… it’s a problem. Answer? The perfidious Christians and Jews – especially the Jews – have been messing with their own texts.

I wonder if all these outreach-oriented Islamophile Christians know that Muslims believe that Christian and Jewish texts have simply been altered, that they are just lies.

I’m sick of Islam the way Alice probably got sick of being on the wrong side of the looking glass.

    • Now I’m picturing Mo vs. Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I would watch that.

Load of idiots. May they continue to fight amongst themselves.

Although Majidi consulted both Sunni and Shia scholars before making the film, he has not managed to appease everyone. Egypt’s al-Azhar University, regarded as the foremost institution for studying Sunni theology, has been vocal about the film since its announcement in 2012.

“We demand that Iran refrain from releasing the movie, so that an undistorted image of the Prophet can be preserved in the minds of Muslims. We call upon all film-makers to respect religions and prophets,” scholars from the Islamic Research Academy said in a statement. They have since requested the film not be shown in Iran.
