Britons loathe Israel more than Iran, survey finds

Britons feel more “unfavorable” to Israel than any other country worldwide except North Korea, a survey found.

The survey — taken in August and published Thursday by Chatham House, the Royal Institute of International Affairs — showed a massive surge in negative attitudes toward Israel since the previous such study, two years earlier. Thirty-five percent of Britons said they “feel especially unfavorable towards” Israel in the 2014 survey, compared to 17% in 2012.

That figure meant that Israel is regarded more unfavorably by Britons than Iran — 33% in the 2014 survey, compared to 45% in 2012. Only North Korea fares worse — regarded as especially unfavorable by 47% in 2014, compared to 40% in 2012.

Commenting on the dramatic rise in hostile attitudes to Israel, the compilers noted that, “The survey was conducted in August 2014 at a time when … Israel was engaged in a military operation in Gaza against Hamas that caused large numbers of civilian casualties”…

The neocons are just as good as the left at making double standards. The left blame Israel for collateral damage against Gazan aggression. The neocons blame Assad for collateral damage against ISIS/Al-Qeada aggression.
Both sides seem to agree that Putin eats babies, and was laughing maniacally when he personally shot down MH17, though.

      What’s a Neocon?

A word with no real agreed meaning. I keep seeing “neoliberal” and I have no idea what it means. Any idea?

“Neocon” was used at point to refer to former Dems who became Republicans over the Cold War (correct me if I’m wrong). It’s kind of out-of-date now.

Yeah, I imadgine its Lind of like calling somebody a fascist or a reactionary, or something…
I, like you, am just wondering what it is short-hand for.

I’m pretty sure they are not talking about Donald Rumsfeld or Dick Cheney too, neither of whom were actually Neocons, but that’s what they were called a bit over a decade ago.

The Brits have hated the Jews for 2,000 years now. Nothing new here. What is new is the positive attitude towards Iran, more evidence that Britain is rapidly Islamizing.

Many of their new “vibrant” citizens are anti-Israel, even if they’re not Muslims.

No one feels especially unfavourable towards Canada.

    That’s Canada!

    • Frau Katze

We’re easy to overlook. Let’s hope it stays that way.

      • If it helps, I {heart} Canada. Just dotty about it. Go, Canada!

Whoever first related Jews as the canaries in a coal mine to the descent of a nation into savagery is looking more and more prescient.

Considering how biased the news is that they are exposed to (really the same throughout the West) is it any wonder? I recall how the news of the 6 day war was being reported in France in 1967 and if you only relied on that to form an opinion it would have to be anti-Israel.

Once more, I am disappointed that the United States didn’t top North Korea on that list.
    It makes me feel sad.
Sad, like when demonstrators burn some other nation’s flag instead of ours.

It’s as if we are losing our touch; our specialness.

  • How is Israel like North Korea?

Why is South Korea so far down on the list?

    Lousy punters….
